"She’s clearly rejected you so many times, yet you’re still trying to please her like a puppy. Do you think if you found her, Lindsey will appreciate you or fall in love with you? Or even be as devoted to you as she is to Zayn? Shaun Juhl, why are you so naive?"
Allie laughed out loud. When she saw Shaun's face turning pale by the minute, a certain revenge-like pleasure surfaced on her face. What was it that Shaun said to her last time?
She really loved seeing these men's dignity being trampled all over the ground.
Shaun’s grip tightened. He had decided to let go of his feelings for Lindsey, but somehow, his heart still ached because of these words.
Love was affection, companionship, and years of habit.
"Do you think I won't know if you don't tell me?" After a while, Shaun finally found his voice again. “Do you think I won’t be able to find out what you want to do? Lindsey doesn't like me, but to her, I’m family. This bond lasts forever. You, on the other hand, are nothing to Zayn. Even if Lindsey’s not around, do you think you can get what you want? You won’t! And this will only make Zayn take out all his anger on you and your family."
"Allie Wilford, it’s time to end your act. Where is she?" By the end of it, Shaun's voice became stern.
Shaun’s repeated loss of temper was all for Lindsey. Even if he retreated from loving her romantically to loving her as a brother, Lindsey was still the girl he was most concerned for.
Allie's hands struggled slightly. "I told you! I don't know where Lindsey is!"
Her voice was sharp and did not sound the slightest bit alluring like before. “Do you have any proof? If you don’t, it’s slander! Zayn can’t even do anything to me, so what do you think you can do? Shaun Juhl! I’m warning you, you better be polite to me."
"So what if I'm not? What can you do?" Shaun abruptly approached her as his other hand grabbed Allie's shirt collar. The car keys in his hand were pressed against Allie's carotid artery. "What if I trade you for Lindsey?"
Allie's eyes widened in terror. "Shaun Juhl! What are you trying to do? Let go of me!"
"Are you afraid now?" Shaun exerted more force. "Where the hell is Lindsey?!"
"I said I don't know! I really don't know!" Allie cried out and was probably scared of Shaun. "Zayn also asked me earlier, but I really don't know."
The old housekeeper who was next to them was startled by Allie's cries. Seeing Shaun's murderous face, the housekeeper hurriedly went forward and tried to pull them apart.
"Our Lady hasn’t gone out for the past two days. Sir, you must be mistaken. Let go of her!"
Allie cried miserably and the housekeeper looked frightened. Shaun closed his eyes and opened them again. He then exerted more force on his hands before finally letting go of her.
The housekeeper held Allie up and said, "Oh, dear."
He turned to Shaun and said, "Our Lady is leaving tonight and she really has nothing to do with whatever you said. Please let her go."
Shaun only coldly spat out four words, "It better be so."
He believed that Zayn must have already arranged it properly. If Allie were to leave tonight, she would not be able to take another person with her. Also, if she wanted to leave, it probably would not be that easy.
The sun was rising. Shaun did not go back to the office but sat at a regular cafe near the Wilford Residence.
Shaun scrolled through his phone and saw several missed calls. He was stunned to find that one of them was from Yvette Wendell, but he just put his phone down and only tapped his finger repeatedly on the coffee table as he was deep in thought.
......
Lindsey and Sieben were woken up.
The few of them who were watching Lindsey and Sieben looked at Lindsey in shock.
The boss told them to watch over this woman well and nothing could happen to her, now that Lindsey was puking, they were at a loss of what to do.
For a while, the group of people looked nervous until a phone call came in.
Lindsey and Sieben were locked in the room again. Their legs were also bound. Probably because it was troublesome, those men did not tie them together like before, so this was an improvement.
As they passed by, they saw that a dozen people had gathered outside the room where they had been locked up last night. They were also staring at the two of them with a hostile look on their faces.
If there were so many people inside, then there would probably be more of them outside. Lindsey could not hear what they were talking about, so she could only rely on Sieben's superhuman hearing.
"This place is safe for now. Don’t move yet. Be on standby and get ready to leave tonight. It’s just morning sickness. It’s fine as long as she doesn't die. Don’t bring the other one, she’s trouble."
Sieben repeated what she heard word for word to Lindsey. Although intermittent, the meaning of those words was clear as day.
"What did they mean don’t bring the other one?"
"Leave tonight?"
The two of them said at the same time, but their focus was clearly different.
Lindsey’s face was stern as she said, "You must find a way to escape from here."
