Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 267

Lindsey had a smile on her face. Although she looked wretched, for the first time since she got here, she felt genuinely happy.

"Are you cold?" Lindsey tried to get herself and Sieben's body closer together.

Sieben cooperated by moving closer to Lindsey. The place where their bodies were pressed together felt warm, which gave her a hint of strength.

Seeing that Lindsey was not panicked and did not cry, Sieben could not help but tease her. "I thought you'd wake up so scared you'd pee your pants."

Lindsey rolled her eyes, She spoke calmly as if she was talking about something insignificant, "I’m used to being tied up after so many times. Crying is useless. Peeing my pants is even more useless."

It was rare that Lindsey could still joke at a time like this, so Sieben gave a light laugh. Then, she said quietly, "Shh...don't speak."

Lindsey closed her mouth and even breathed lightly.

A few moments later, Sieben whispered, "There’s quite a few of them."

"What do you mean?" Lindsey immediately asked with interest.

Sieben adjusted her posture so that both of them could be more comfortable. After that, she said slowly, "Two people are standing at the door, and there are at least fifteen people outside. Don’t you think it’s a little too extra for so many people to watch the both of us?"

Lindsey did not have time to think about why there were so many people. All her attention fell on Sieben. She looked at her strangely and asked, "How do you know?"

Sieben laughed arrogantly and said, "Tsk tsk...a master never discloses her secrets."

Lindsey was speechless and thought that Sieben must have watched too much TV lately.

This was clearly a kidnapping, which was supposed to be a tense and pressuring situation, but these two were joking around as if they were on vacation.

"Listen to the sound. The two people's footsteps at the door are quite distinct. Outside, the breathing of those people are very chaotic and intertwined with each other, so you can roughly gauge from there."

After saying that, Sieben gently shook her head and laughed at herself. "I can't believe that I was caught and locked up. What a disgrace."

Lindsey did not hear this clearly. For the first time, Lindsey became curious about Sieben's background. The strange feeling of shared suffering gave her a glimpse of the truth. She then asked, "What exactly do you do?"

Next to her, Sieben’s breath suddenly stalled. She did not speak for a long time. Lindsey was just about to say forget it and that it was just a casual question when she heard the girl next to her answer with a slightly coy but deep voice, "I...kill people."

Sieben let out a cold snort.

Lindsey could not tell for a moment whether what Sieben said was true, so she continued, "Then you’re probably the worst performer in this business."

"Right?" Sieben's tone sounded a little frustrated. "Being chased by people every day that I can’t even fill my stomach. Hey, are you hungry? I'm starving."

Sieben was a beautiful young girl who had to eat five meals a day.

After she said that, their stomachs growled in unison.

Lindsey’s expression became stern. She was afraid of what they had done to Sieben during the time she was unconscious. Her tone was not as relaxed as it was earlier when she said, "Tell me, what happened?"

In the darkness, the sound of Sieben's nervous gulp was particularly clear, as if she was thinking about what to say. In the end, Sieben decided to tell her the truth. She even sounded self-loathing and was still tense when she said, "These people may be here for me. They’re...ruthless."

"They want to capture you? Why?" Lindsey did not understand.

"Sigh...it’s better for you not to know so much. I’ll find a way to protect you anyway. Their target is me, so they shouldn't do anything to you. As long as you pretend to be scared and promise not to say anything about seeing them, you'll be fine."

"Then you’ll be taken away by them?" Lindsey guessed what Sieben was getting at.

Seeing that Sieben was silent, that was exactly what she thought. Lindsey laughed out loud for a moment. "You said so yourself that the other party is ruthless, so how could they possibly let me go? Besides, we can’t know for sure whose enemy this really is."

Sieben tilted her head slightly, somewhat puzzled.

"You only know that I'm somewhat involved with Liam Wilford, but you’re probably not aware exactly what it is yet, right?" Lindsey had a feeling that this girl, who occasionally seemed cold and indifferent, was just a simple and somewhat silly child at heart.

At this point, Lindsey had nothing to hide, so she briefly told Sieben about her entanglement with Liam Wilford. After she said that, she lightly bumped Sieben and said, “So, since you’re not even sure which enemy of yours came to look for you, we might as well assume that Liam Wilford’s here for me.”

The incident last time was probably also Liam's doing.

After saying that, Lindsey said boldly, "There must be a way out of this. No matter who it is on the other side, at least we know that we’re useful to them alive, so we’re safe for the time being."
