Lindsey forced a smile. "Thanks."
"Then you’ll have to treat me to barbecue!" Sieben demanded her own thank you gift.
Before Lindsey could say anything, Soren glanced at her coldly and said, "All you know how to do is eat!"
Sieben glared at him. If not for Lindsey's current state, she would have gone up to bite Soren. "Better than you, blockhead!"
Lindsey looked at the two people who were fighting like children and her mood seemed to have improved. When they came out, it was already afternoon, so by the time they returned, it was almost sunset.
Soren could tell that Lindsey was not in a good mood. After they got back, Lindsey went into the house. Soren then dragged Sieben out by the arm.
Sieben struggled like a trapped octopus, but Soren subdued her with his elbow. "What did Allie Wilford say while I was away?"
"I don’t know...I was just eating." Sieben lied.
Soren pinched her chin. "Tell me the truth."
Sieben was unmoved.
"When Allie left, there was a bruise on her wrist. You did that, right? Why did you hurt her?" Soren pressed closer to Sieben, with a look of warning in his eyes.
The two were extremely close. Sieben raised her head and was just about to speak when the sound of a car horn came from behind them.
Soren was startled and loosened his grip. Sieben followed him to the side but accidentally twisted her ankle, so she stumbled and her lips touched Soren's chin.
Both of them were stunned. Sieben blinked. Soren felt the softness at his chin and surprisingly even thought that this crazy girl’s lips were quite soft.
There was another honk and the two of them separated like they felt an electric shock.
Zayn's car slowly drove past the two. Perhaps it was Zayn’s instructions or the driver himself who felt playful, the car horn sounded again when the car was next to them.
For some reason, Soren’s heart jumped with this sound. On the other hand, Sieben was annoyed and said as she stared at the tail of the car, "What the hell?"
Sieben did not look the slightest bit uncomfortable, but Soren had quite a big reaction. It was just an accidental touch.
After this episode, Sieben slipped away and roamed around. She was excited about everything because a lot of things were new to her. She was also easily amused.
Since Zayn was back, Soren went over to him and briefly reported that Lindsey and Allie met up earlier. He also told Zayn that he had missed some details because he was kicked out of the room.
Zayn did not say much. As long as Allie did not do anything to hurt Lindsey, he could tolerate it.
However, when Zayn saw Lindsey, he noticed that she was obviously not in the right state of mind.
He entered the door and saw Lindsey nestled on a hanging chair gently swaying about. She was wearing a white flowy dress. When the wind blew on the balcony, she looked like she was dancing.
Zayn gently walked behind Lindsey only to find that she was mechanically tapping her feet lightly. Her eyes were also hollow.
She looked distant and lonely, even a little despondent.
Lindsey did not notice that Zayn was approaching her until he stood right in front of her, blocking the sunlight.
She looked up at him with hazy eyes.
The man's gaze seemed to be focused on the big screen. Lindsey peeked at him for a few seconds when Zayn's hand suddenly reached over and placed it on the back of Lindsey's head. He then turned his head to look at her. His eyes absorbed all the light from the screen and asked, "Am I that good-looking that you can’t concentrate on the movie?"
Lindsey looked compelled and subconsciously nodded.
He was indeed good-looking. Before they left the house, Zayn changed into casual clothes. He did not look like a soon-to-be-father. Rather, he looked like a college student, clean-cut and handsome. A lot of young girls were even staring at him earlier.
The man's low laugh sounded in the darkness. He then pinched Lindsey's cheek and said, "Silly girl."
Lindsey also reached out to pinch his cheek. The two of them looked at each other and suddenly laughed.
When they came out of the movie theater, Lindsey saw a layer of white fluff on the ground and reached out to touch it, only to find that it was snow.
"Zayn, it's snowing!" Lindsey's voice could not hide her surprise.
Zayn responded lightly. He tightened his grip on her hand and held her waist with the other hand.
When Lindsey wanted to rush forward, Zayn immediately pulled her close. “Where are you rushing to?”
The people around them were saying that the snow came a little early this year. There were also some food trucks nearby.
Zayn and Lindsey walked over to the car to find Sieben standing in front of another car behind them, with a huge cotton candy in her hand. She ate until she had sugar stains at the corners of her mouth and looked like a little mouse.
Lindsey looked at it longingly. Zayn suddenly shoved Lindsey into the car and said, "Stay here, I'll be right back."
Before Lindsey could respond, Zayn disappeared into the busy street.
