Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 231

Zayn returned to the Guggenheim mansion exhausted. To spend more time at home with Lindsey, he had been pushing himself to finish all his work in the shortest possible time that his eyes were permeating with tiredness.

Lindsey was sitting at the dining table looking around when she saw the man stepping into the house and unconsciously smiled. However, seeing the man’s tired face, she frowned slightly.

She walked over to him and held his hand. She then kissed him gently on the cheek and caressed his furrowed brows. “You must be tired.”

Zayn shook his head and touched Lindsey’s belly. “I’m not tired. What did you eat today?”

Lindsey counted with her fingers and reported what she had eaten today. She then told Zayn what she had done and how long she had slept, reporting every minute of her day.

Actually, there were already people who reported her movements to Zayn every day, but somehow, Zayn just liked to hear it all over again from her mouth.

When she sat down at the table, Lindsey took a sip of soup and looked at Zayn. "Allie came to see me today."

"Oh, why did she look for you?" Zayn was taking some dishes for Lindsey and asked with a natural look. He already knew about it.

"She said that Liam left overnight." The soup was still a little hot, so Lindsey put it on the table and was thinking to drink it later when it cooled.

Zayn casually picked up the soup bowl she had put down, then blew on it to cool it down. His movements were so natural as if he had done it thousands of times.

When Zayn was not paying attention, Lindsey moved some of the food on her plate onto Zayn’s plate as she said, “I saw the news today. It seems that Wilford Corporation suffered a double blow because of financial and client withdrawal. Why would Liam leave at this time?”

Once the soup cooled down, Zayn put it in front of Lindsey. Seeing that she took a sip, the man unhurriedly put all the food Lindsey just placed on his plate back to her plate. "I'm afraid only Liam himself knows."

"You really don't know? Wilford Corporation’s crisis has nothing to do with you?" Lindsey did not believe it and looked at Zayn dubiously.

Zayn’s expression remained unchanged. “I only got to know that Liam went to Germany today. What else did Allie say?”

"Nothing." Lindsey poked at the kale on her plate. She did not like kale and wanted to put it onto Zayn's plate again, but she was stopped by a look from the man.

"You can't be a picky eater anymore."

One of the reasons Zayn watched what Lindsey ate every day was because Lindsey had become extra picky after she returned.

Lindsey grudgingly stuffed those leafy greens into her mouth in one go.

Zayn could not resist laughing and even forgot about the fact that Lindsey was hiding something from him.

The maids on the side were watching their little banter and felt a little awkward because the atmosphere between them was just too intimate.

After dinner, Lindsey took a walk with the maids around the garden.

Zayn had a video conference, so he sat on the balcony looking at Lindsey's back. Zayn had a hint of content in his eyes as he felt that Lindsey seemed happier now.

Once the video call was connected, Zayn withdrew his gaze and the joy in his eyes abruptly dissipated.

It was sunrise where Soren was at. Soren was facing the sun, so when the call was connected, Zayn could see his face that was glowing under the morning light.

"You speak English?" Soren was first shocked, then he was startled again. "You can speak?"

From the time he picked up this little girl, she did not speak and just clung to him. Soren could have easily gotten rid of her, but at that critical moment, this person fainted. At that time, they were in a hurry to hide, so he had no choice but to bring her along.

When she woke up, she still did not speak, but now she could even speak English.

The man on the ground was still asleep. Soren sighed lightly and walked to the corner next to the grimy-looking girl. "Kid, don’t be so somber all the time. I have to go. Don’t follow me."

Her voice was still not matured yet. When she heard him say that he was leaving, she became anxious and revealed a pair of dark, glimmering eyes. "I want to go with you."

"Kid, do you know who I am? Do you know my identity? How could you just come with me?" Soren laughed at himself and turned to make a call for someone to take this little girl away.

"You're a good person." The girl behind him suddenly shouted.

Soren stopped in his tracks. He turned his head slightly to the side and after a long time, the mocking smile on his face suddenly deepened. "Kid, I’m not a good person."

When he said this, his chiseled side profile crashed into the girl’s heart in front of him. She could still clearly recall it after so many years.

"Hurry up and leave. Go home. If you don’t have a home...then wander in the streets."

After he said that, Soren left. The girl was frustrated and squatted down. Her big eyes on her small, dark face became watery.
