Lindsey's heart was flooded with some strange feelings. Did Allie not want her to hear her conversation?
Although Lindsey had no intention of listening in on other people's phone calls, Allie's behavior was too odd.
At that moment, the door suddenly opened from the inside.
Allie looked at Lindsey aggrieved and complained, "You still know to come back? You left me here alone last night. Do you know how worried I was for you?"
This tone was completely different from the harshness of her voice over the call earlier.
"Allie, I’m sorry. I accidentally fell asleep last night." Lindsey took Allie's hand and was apologetic. She then asked, "Were you on the phone with your brother just now? Did he make you upset?"
Lindsey thought that Allie was her friend, so she just asked straightforwardly when she was curious about something. Otherwise, a gap would gradually form between them.
Allie’s eyes panicked for a split second. She closed the door and turned to Lindsey. “You heard it? My brother called earlier and we quarreled.
"By the way, are you okay? Last night, Zayn Guggenheim took you away. I was really worried and came to look for you, but he won’t let you go. I was so angry."
Allie said with a pout, looking extra childish.
"I'm fine." Lindsey frowned and added, "I don't remember how I met Zayn last night and even stayed with him all night."
Allie's eyes widened this time, full of surprise. "You didn't know? Zayn called the resort doctor last night and wondered if someone had drugged you, but it turned out that you were just asleep."
When she said that, Lindsey also realized that she seemed to have fallen asleep extra early last night and also had a heavy sleep.
Seeing Lindsey deep in thought, Allie said, "The hot springs here have a soothing and tranquilizing effect. Soaking more can also be good for your beauty and health."
When she said this, Lindsey also agreed and said, "Yeah, it's probably because of the hot springs yesterday."
Later, Allie told Lindsey about Zayn's actions against Shaun last night. While Lindsey was not surprised by it because this was Zayn's usual style, she still felt that Zayn was just as unreasonable as usual.
She and Allie stayed at the hot springs resort for three days. The next two days were calm with no further incidents.
Lindsey trusted the people she was close to without reservations and trusted Allie as well. When Allie saw that Lindsey was not suspicious anymore, she also put her mind to ease.
She was not required to go to the Wilford office for the time being as everything was taken care of by Allie and Liam.
Lindsey was more concerned about another thing.
During the three days at the resort, she tried not to think about the meaning behind Zayn avoiding her.
However, this question still came to mind from time to time.
Ever since the cruise incident, their relationship became like this. Not only did Zayn stop actively pestering her, he even became a bit evasive.
Lindsey sometimes felt that this was good as she would not have to say goodbye herself when the time came.
However, she could still feel the deep feelings that Zayn was suppressing.
These feelings were so strong that her heart would tingle from time to time, but all they signified was that she and Zayn were not meant to be.
That was simply the most appropriate way to describe her and Zayn.
Nonetheless, she should not be soft-hearted.
