Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 177

A wave of emotions seemed to be surging in Lindsey’s heaving chest, which crashed onto her already fickle heart, making it an utter mess. She was suddenly at a loss.

Lindsey secretly hated her weakness. Every time she got hurt by Zayn, she would always easily feel touched by the things he said or did.

She looked out of the window and gradually became lost in thought.

When Lindsey came back to her senses, the ward had long been empty. Quentin had already left at some point, so the empty room was silent.

Lindsey carefully looked around and realized that there was an identical hospital bed right next to hers, but it did not look like anyone had been lying there.

"Ms. Juhl, it's time for your infusion." The nurse's slightly sweet voice sounded.

Lindsey raised her eyes just in time to see the door to the ward open and her eyes met with the man following behind the nurse.

Her body suddenly stiffened and she looked away in panic.

Zayn did not say anything as he stood at the side and watched the nurse skillfully poked the needle into her arm. Zayn saw Lindsey frown, so he could not help but say to the nurse, “Be careful.”

"It's fine. It's not that painful." Lindsey said from the side.

When the nurse went out, Lindsey asked, "Quentin said that you also have a fever. Are you feeling better?"

She looked calm and her eyes were sparkling, but she looked very fragile and pale.

"Much better."

Somehow after last night's incident, the two of them suddenly became awkward like strangers. Even if they were just sitting face to face, it felt like there was an insurmountable rift between them.

"Thank you."

Lindsey said lightly. She felt that she had been completely relieved. Love and hate were so drastic, yet they were only separated by a thin line. Those grievances had become something from her past life the moment Zayn jumped overboard to save her.

Put it this way, all of her sorrows and joys from the first half of her life were closely linked to this man. The dull world suddenly became more colorful and memorable because of him, making her life filled with ups and downs.

What else was there to be dissatisfied with?

Zayn heard her thanking him and froze for a second. He did not say anything.

Both of them were filled with emotions but neither wanted to declare them.

He had thought of waiting for Lindsey to wake up to talk with her. He wanted to tell her how much he cared for her and how guilty he felt after giving her up, but when he saw Lindsey sitting in front of him, he could not say anything.

When Quentin told him that Lindsey asked about him, he was truly happy, but it made him more conscious of the problems between the two of them.

Compared to his own feelings, Zayn wanted to make her happy. He wanted her to live a happy and secure life without any darkness.

Zayn did not want to let go of this marriage till death did them part, but how could he get her to forgive the mistakes he once made?

Even though Lindsey accepted his apology, they still could not live together in peace. In terms of loving someone, he probably was very incompetent.

"I’m glad you're okay. Mrs. Wendy will come over later to keep you company. You should stay another night for observation. If there’s nothing serious, then you can be discharged tomorrow." Zayn paused for a moment and continued, "If there's nothing else, I'll leave first."

Lindsey gave a faint "mmm".

He was like an ordinary friend that came for a casual visit and left Lindsey in the empty ward.

Zayn never showed up again and it was Allie who helped Lindsey with the discharge procedures.

Allie felt guilty, but Lindsey did not suspect her at all.
