Forced Into Marriage: My Husband’s Too Mean novel Chapter 165

"Mr. Emerson, it’s really not up to me. All I did was call the police. It was your capable son that did everything himself - fighting, raping, gambling, and smoking all kinds of things. Even if I wanted to sabotage him, there was nothing left for me to do."

As Zayn said that, he rubbed his wrist and even smiled as if he truly admired Ian Emerson’s capability.

Kai Emerson was rendered speechless, but his wife next to him stood out. "Ian’s just a kid and doesn’t know what’s good for him. He was only mixing with the wrong crowd. Mr. Guggenheim, please save him."

As she said this, she was about to cry again but Zayn raised his hand to stop her. "Don’t degrade the word, 'kid'."

His voice was so cold that Mrs. Emerson did not even dare to cry, but Zayn did not intend to show any mercy. "You guys can leave. If I find out that you harass my wife again, then I promise that the rest of your son's life will be a lot more...interesting."

The couple’s faces turned pale in an instant. Mrs. Emerson still wanted to retort, but she was pulled by Kai and they went downstairs. Although they could no longer see the couple, they could still vaguely hear Mrs. Emerson's cries and curses.

Zayn turned to look at Lindsey with an apologetic face. He looked completely different from the cold and sharp man that he was earlier. "I’m sorry I didn't handle it well and let them harass you."

Lindsey glanced at him, but quickly lowered her head. "I don't blame you."

The two of them were standing at each side of the door and the atmosphere was harmonious and quiet.

Allie was still standing behind Lindsey when she poked her head out. "Hi, Mr. Guggenheim."

Zayn looked like he had just seen her, nodded, and said, "Ms. Wilford, it's so late. Aren’t you going home yet?"

His words were polite, but he was clearly chasing her away.

There was a hint of gloom on Allie's face, which was quickly concealed. "I was about to leave, but didn't expect to run into these people."

"It's very late. Do take care on your way home."

Lindsey looked at Zayn and always felt that his attitude towards Allie was odd.

The way he put it, it would be inconsiderate of Allie to overstay her welcome.

After sending Allie off, Lindsey found that Zayn was still standing at her door looking like he was waiting for her to return.

Lindsey was surprised that she had used the word "wait" and somehow thought of what Zayn had said to her when they first met after she returned to the country. "You're finally back."

Back then, she could not understand the meaning behind that statement, but now, she suddenly felt something.

Zayn was holding his phone, scrolling through it with a bored expression. When he saw Lindsey return, he remained leaning against the wall. His voice was cold but charming as he said, "I’ve given you ample time, have you considered it? Can you tell me your answer?"

Lindsey did not know if it was the angle that she was standing against the light, but she felt that there was a flicker of light under his eyes.

These days, she did seriously consider this question and finally found that answering it was not all that difficult.

Zayn looked straight at Lindsey and his burning gaze made her feel like running away.

"Tell me your answer."

Lindsey pressed her lips together and told herself there was nothing difficult about this. She slowly said, “I agree.”

When she said these two words, she was inexplicably nervous.

Zayn was visibly delighted, but it was not the same as the usual laughter or quirk that people had when they were happy. His happiness was subtle, but the smile on his face deepened.
