After Liam Wilford left, Lindsey stood at the roadside, suddenly a little confused.
The purpose of her return was to seek revenge on Zayn and Jenny Lenig, but in the end, she realized that the truth was far from what she thought she knew. What she saw was just one side of the story and even her so-called revenge was only achieved with Zayn and the old man’s help.
This all felt like a lifetime ago, but it had only happened recently. The deep hatred she felt for Zayn had long faded away.
Moreover, Lindsey was horrified to discover that she had come to crave the warmth that she could never get from Zayn in the past.
Hate indeed stemmed from love. In the end, all of it was because of love.
Nonetheless, she did not have much time left. Liam's presence was a constant reminder that she only had slightly more than six months to go.
Thus, it was better to leave.
"Linds!" A voice came from behind her with a familiar sense of warmth.
Lindsey turned her head and saw Shaun looking dapper in a well-tailored suit.
"Big brother, why are you here?" Lindsey asked in surprise. They had not seen each other for a while.
Shaun still had a gentle smile on his face and his eyes were gorgeous. "A client lives here. I came to deliver something to her."
Lindsey noticed that although he was still smiling, his eyebrows were furrowed. She was a bit confused and thought, ‘What kind of client needed Shaun Juhl, the President of a big company, to personally deliver something?’
Shaun did not explain, so Lindsey did not ask more.
"How’s the company doing these days?" Lindsey asked.
"It's good."
Shaun wanted to say something else. He always had something to say to Lindsey, but a voice suddenly came from behind him, "Shaun! Why are you running away?"
The woman's voice was crisp and even a little childish, like a lark in early spring.
Lindsey looked in the direction of the voice and saw a young lady wearing a pleated skirt with a pretty baby face coming straight over.
She was not coming towards Lindsey, but to Shaun.
The smile on Shaun's face faded and took on a bit of impatience. "Yvette Wendell, please stop following me."
However, the girl ignored what he said and disregarded his evasion. She just ran straight into his arms and circled Shaun’s waist tightly with her fair delicate arms. "Why are you hiding from me?"
Her voice sounded a bit aggrieved.
Shaun pushed her away and subconsciously glanced at Lindsey to find out that Lindsey was looking at Yvette intriguingly.
The hope in his heart was once again shattered.
Shaun looked distressed, embarrassed, and even a little annoyed as he pulled Yvette away from him. Seeing that she still tried to cling to him, he could not help but shout sternly, "Stop right there!"
Yvette Wendell immediately stood upright with an aggrieved face. She looked so pitiful.
Lindsey was also a bit surprised. In all these years, this was the first time she saw Shaun being so mean to a girl.
Yvette’s eyes wandered around after being shouted at. She looked at Lindsey and asked in a clingy voice, "Who is she?"
Shaun did not answer her, but Lindsey was afraid that the girl would misunderstand, so she took the initiative to say, "I’m Shaun’s sister, the adopted daughter of the Juhls."
Yvette’s eyes lit up and she wanted to say something, but she was dragged by the back of her neck behind Shaun.
