Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 58

Chapter 58

The next day, Estelle woke up to find the sun already up and Jonathan nowhere to be found. She was alone in the bed.

As she got out of bed to get some clothes, her thigh trembled and she almost lost her balance. She let out a soft sigh, reminiscent of when she first started intense training.

She thought Jonathan had already left until she opened the door to find him sitting on the balcony with a cup of coffee, staring at his computer screen.

Dressed casually, Jonathan looked as handsome and distinguished as ever, even more so than the day before.

Upon hearing her, Jonathan looked up and Estelle greeted him with a smile, “Good morning, Mr. Lamont!”

Only after speaking did she realize her voice sounded a little hoarse, making her cheeks heat up in embarrassment.

Jonathan’s expression remained unchanged, showing no signs of noticing her discomfort. “I ordered breakfast. You should freshen up and then join me,” he said calmly.

Checking the time, Estelle realized it was almost nine o’clock. “Thank you, but I have to go. I’m already running late for Henson’s lesson.”

She hadn’t expected to sleep so soundly.

“Don’t worry!” said Jonathan. “I already called Henson and told him you had to take some time off. You can go two hours later.”

“You already called him?” asked Estelle, surprised.

“Yes. Is there a problem?”

“No, thank you!” she replied with a smile.

The breakfast spread was lavish, with meal boxes from a nearby five-star hotel.

Jonathan placed a bowl of chicken soup in front of her. “This is for you.”

Instinctively, Estelle shook her head and pushed it back. “Please, you need it more.”

Jonathan raised an eyebrow, his gaze deepening. “You think I need to replenish my energy? Didn’t you enjoy last night?”

Stunned, Estelle stammered, “No.”

“No?” he asked, squinting. “But clearly…”

“I mean, you don’t need to…” she interrupted, flustered for the first time. “You really don’t need to take any supplements. You’re fine.”

“Well, then you should have it,” he said with a faint smile.

“Okay,” she agreed, having the soup without further comment.

She lowered her head, cheeks flushed, and nearly bit her tongue while sipping the soup.

They ate their meal in silence, the atmosphere neither awkward nor tense, but still undeniably strange.

Probably because it was their first time having breakfast together.

After the meal, Jonathan said, “You don’t need to clean up. The cleaning lady will come. I’ll go change, and then we can go.”

Estelle asked, “Are we going together?”

“Of course. Why not?” he replied casually.

“I’m worried Henson might misunderstand,” she blinked.

Jonathan’s gaze remained deep and inscrutable. ‘Misunderstand what?” he asked.

Shaking her head with a light smile, Estelle replied, “Never mind. I’ll wait for you here”

As Jonathan left to change, Estelle received a text from Magdalen. “How was last night? Did you enjoy yourself?”

She had just learned from a maid that Estelle tutored Henson at the Lamont residence. Upon hearing this, she relaxed significantly.

She was certain that the Lamonts would never allow Jonathan to marry a tutor.

Although with the wealth and status of the Lamont family, they didn’t need Jonathan to have business marriage, but a wealthy family like them also paid attention to being well-matched.

Estelle’s eyes widened in surprise when she heard her words, then turned to look at Lucille.

Lucille flashed a smile at her, a proud and aloof one, like a peacock that had defeated its love rival.

Estelle was having a tad bit mixed feelings inside.

Dishes were served one after another, with seafood being the main course. Especially, there were two types of crabs, which seemed to show that the Lamont family had a thing for seafood.

Jonathan took a seat, and Lucille sat next to him. Henson didn’t seem to like her much, so he sat on the other

side of the long table, with Estelle beside him.

Lucille was secretly delighted to be sitting so close to Jonathan.

As they started eating, Lucille asked Jonathan when his parents would be back.

Jonathan looked apathetic, responding casually, “Their meeting got postponed, so I don’t know yet.”

Lucille furrowed her brow, “My dad wants me to work at our family’s company, but I’m still undecided. I was hoping to talk it over with your grandma.”

Henson looked up and said, “it’s your own business, why do you need to bother my grandma for it?”
