Once Lucy was gone, Carson held the lunchbox out to Marina. "I don't eat this kind of junk. Here."
Marina glared at him coldly. "Why are you here?"
Carson gestured to the door behind him with a shrug. "I live here."
Marina stared at him, her anger flaring.
Carson chuckled. "Oh, I forgot to tell you. Another reason I sold this place was because things haven't been going my way lately. I had a feng shui master look at it, and he said the energy of this unit clashes with my birth chart. He told me to buy the unit across the hall instead, so I bought this one and sold that one."
He added nonchalantly, "I thought I'd have a hard time selling it, but surprisingly, you loved it. Don't worry though, your birth chart doesn't clash with it at all. Sleep tight!"
Marina didn't say a word.
Carson pushed the lunchbox closer. "Sure you don't want it?"
Eat garbage!
Marina felt entirely played. She shot him a death glare and stormed off.
Carson raised an eyebrow. Once she was gone, a smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth as he turned and went back inside, shutting his door.
Marina had reached the elevator when her rage peaked. She didn't know if she was mad at herself or at Carson. She spun around, marched right back to his door, and kicked it as hard as she could!
Bang!
The impact sent a sharp jolt of pain up her ankle.
She let out a quiet hiss of pain and frowned. The door suddenly swung open. Carson looked at her in surprise, then down at his door.
He looked back up, his expression full of hidden meaning. "Did my door offend you somehow?"
Marina forced out a cold sneer. "I just don't like the look of it. What kind of low-class trash dares to be neighbors with my door?"
Carson remained silent.
Marina spun on her heel and walked away.
The elevator had arrived. She stepped in without a single backward glance.
