Yolanda was fuming, her eyes wide with indignation as she confronted Sophia, "He never reached out to me!" Her voice was a mix of fury and disbelief. "What are you two up to behind my back, huh? Trying to seduce my boyfriend right in front of me that day, don't think I didn't notice!"
Sophia's face turned pale, and with a sharp slap, she threw a photograph onto the table, her voice icy, "Have some evidence before you accuse people, Yolanda. Accusing someone baselessly? I could sue you for that!"
"This is the evidence!" Yolanda retorted, pointing fiercely at the photograph on the table.
Taking a deep breath, Sophia tried to remain calm, "Whether I've taken any money from Mr. Connor, only he knows the truth. Why don’t you just call him? That should clear everything up."
"Oh, I will. And I’ll show you," Yolanda sneered, pulling out her cell phone to dial Connor.
The phone rang and rang, but no answer.
Frustrated, Yolanda tried again, still, no response.
Snorting with a mix of anger and satisfaction, she said, "Too guilty to even answer the phone now, huh?"
Sophia, not wanting to be left in uncertainty, tried calling Connor herself, but to no avail.
"Out of excuses now, are we?" Yolanda mocked, sensing victory.
Something felt off to Sophia. She questioned Yolanda, "If Connor didn’t convince you to switch the rings, why did you agree to change a five-carat diamond for a two-carat one?"
Yolanda's face flushed with anger, "That's because you intentionally made the ring look hideous, and then nudged me towards choosing the smaller diamond."
"Please," Sophia retorted, her patience wearing thin, "Remind me exactly how I supposedly steered you towards the smaller diamond."
Caught off guard, Yolanda stumbled over her words, unable to reply.
