It was indeed a message from Robin, capturing the New Year's Eve streetscape of J City,
[Suddenly realized, without you in this city, it feels utterly empty.]
[I'm sorry, Sophia. Only after losing you did I understand your worth, filled with regrets, realizing I can't live without you.]
[Did you spend the holiday with your family? Try to be a bit happier, don't be sad because of me.]
[I'll be waiting for you in our city, waiting till you come back!]
Sophia clutched her phone, suddenly tears streaming down her face.
...
At ten in the morning, Jason figured Sophia would be back from visiting the cemetery, so he sent her a message, "Come over to make ravioli. I've got the coins and the sugar ready, you’ve got to wrap them inside yourself, it only counts if you find them!"
After sending the message and getting no reply from Sophia, he couldn't help but smirk, thinking she might be trying to dodge the task. He got up and walked downstairs.
There, Jasmine had arrived, discussing with his mother how to season the ravioli filling.
"Jason!" Jasmine greeted him with a smile.
Jason nodded, "Zoe, has Sophia come back yet?"
"She's been back from the cemetery for a while!" Jasmine's smile faded a bit, she said helplessly, "But she just cleaned up and left again!"
Jason was taken aback, "Where did she go?"
"Back to J City to see her boyfriend!" Jasmine sighed, "Guess a few sweet words from him and she just couldn't resist. Skipped the holiday celebrations entirely, headed straight back to J City."
Jason felt as if a bucket of cold water had been dumped over him, suddenly chilled to the bone, the snow seeming to prick his entire body numb.
As if the icy winds had penetrated deep into his flesh, the bone-chilling cold, accompanied by a heart-wrenching pain.
The pain made it impossible for him to continue the small talk with Jasmine, he quickly found an excuse and turned to go upstairs.
Jason would surely be furious!
They had agreed to break up, yet here she was, lacking the resolve, running back to Robin.
But she had loved Robin for so many years, he had become an obsession in her heart, how could she easily let go!
She also believed Robin wouldn't truly do anything to hurt her!
The thought that Robin didn't go home for the holidays just for her, did touch her heart.
The ordeal with Diana might just make them realize each other's importance, perhaps leading to a better future together.
Thinking about surprising Robin, then celebrating the holiday together, Sophia still felt a flutter of excitement, believing all the heartache she'd endured was worth it.
Sophia forced herself not to think about Jason anymore, turning on some music, trying to relax a little.
