Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 2226

Jonathan navigated the car homeward, his hand finding Estelle's, "Got plans today? Join me at the office."

Estelle's smile was gentle, "Maybe tomorrow. I've already passed Amiee's wedding dress sketch to Harriet, and I need to discuss some details with her today."

Jonathan glanced at her, his voice soft, "You wouldn't be wasting time at my place."

Estelle raised an eyebrow teasingly, "I'm worried some people might get distracted."

Jonathan just laughed silently.

"Jonathan!" Estelle suddenly turned, confusion in her clear eyes, "Do you think my brother likes Sylvia? He's been with her these past few days, but why did he leave all of a sudden?"

She had thought her brother and Sylvia, reuniting after years apart, had developed feelings for each other. But her brother's departure was so decisive.

Now, with one in C City and the other in J City, seeing each other again seemed unlikely.

Jonathan pondered for a moment before speaking up, "There must be feelings involved. Otherwise, with Gab's status, he wouldn't need to bother with the Barlows or the insignificant Brights. His bold move against them was a warning to everyone: stay away from Sylvia. He set up a protective barrier for her!"

"Why else would he do that?"

Estelle thought it over and nodded, "Do you think Sylvia could be the reason my brother decided to step back?"

Jonathan raised an eyebrow, gripping her hand tighter, "We'll see!"

Hope and anticipation shone in Estelle's eyes,

"I really hope my brother starts taking better care of himself, without carrying so much burden."

Milanda sat in her chair, organizing some documents before looking up to hand them to Sylvia with a grin, "Boss, what's got you zoned out?"

Sylvia looked up blankly, "What?"

"Sure, I'll make sure they get the message, letting them know we're not to be trifreated lightly." Milanda smiled, "Oh, and I called Lydia. She's feeling much better and said she'll be back at work tomorrow."

"Good," Sylvia responded, her attention back on the documents.

"I'll leave you to it then!" Milanda said, gathering some files and heading out.

Sylvia focused on her work, reviewing proposals, making calls, but occasionally, she couldn't help but glance at the empty sofa beside her.

The void it left made it hard for her to concentrate again for a while.

The day flew by, and by the time Sylvia finished her last document, it was already dark outside. The office was empty; even Milanda had left two hours earlier, excitedly off to a date.

Some tasks weren't urgent; it was as if she was purposefully keeping herself busy.

But no matter how late, the time to head home eventually arrived.
