Find me in your labyrinth (Stella and Jonathan) novel Chapter 1713

The meal and wine arrived, and Mr. Beck poured a glass for Emily first. "Ms. Emily, though it's our first meet, we've been conversing for quite some time now. This first toast, I must dedicate to you for designing such a splendid house for me. Cheers, and feel free to drink at your own pace!"

Emily said nothing, just sipped half her glass of wine.

"Brilliant! I like a straightforward person like Ms. Emily!" Mr. Beck filled Emily's glass once more.

Cedric gave a chuckle, “Emily doesn't really drink. I'll take the second toast, Mr. Beck, to thank you for your trust in our firm. Here's to a fruitful partnership!"

“With Ms. Emily on board, it's bound to be!" Mr. Beck tossed a flirty smile at Emily and downed his wine.

"Ms. Emily; he raised his glass to her again.

Cedric interrupted at once, "Emily, didn't you mention there were some design details you wanted to discuss with Mr. Beck? Let's get to it!"

“Oh; Emily quickly pulled out her drafts and materials for Mr. Beck to examine.

He waved a dismissive hand, "No need to check, Emily. I trust your judgement. Design it as you see fit!"

"We should still review it," Emily said with a warm smile.

“I said no need!" Mr. Beck slammed his car keys on the table, “If you keep being so formal, I might get upset!"

Emily and Cedric exchanged a look and reluctantly packed up the drafts.

“Emily, I'll just call you Emily. You can call me Beck. Mr. Beck sounds too distant!" He poured more wine for Emily, “I'm fond of gardening, particularly Bonsai trees. When the time comes, put a couple in the yard for me.

The ones that cost over $100,000 each, none of the cheaper ones. They lack class!"

“And the ancient fans from a king, I bought them by the box. It's funny how he enjoyed painting fans more than ruling the country!"

"Pfft!" Emily couldn't hold back her laughter any longer, covering her face with both hands and breaking into giggles.

"Emily, you laughed!” A very excited Mr. Beck, flushed with drink, pointed at Emily, "You find those antiques funny too, don't you?"

Cedric shot Emily a look, refilled Mr. Beck's glass and chimed in, “It is indeed quite hilarious!"

"To this hilarious story then, Emily, we must toast again!" Mr. Beck lifted his glass towards Emily.

Having already consumed three to four glasses, Emily stopped laughing, shook her head and said, “I'm sorry, Mr.

Beck. I can't handle much alcohol. I can't drink anymore."
