Fated to the Werewolf King novel Chapter 10

Her sweet taste lingered on his tongue when she gazed up at his eyes, the sun shining in hers when she spoke up.

"I'm his date." She said, licking her lips slowly. The bulge pressed against his slacks and he didn't care who saw it. His Wolf howled to claim her. His hand tightened on her waist, pressing her curved body against his. Her delicious scent reached his nose, and it took every nerve in his body not to pin her to the window and fuck her in front of everyone.

"Oh, my." the reporter stated, the camera still rolling on them. He fixed his gaze on them, regaining his composure the best he could even with the raging hard on in his pants.

"You heard her. Now, if you'll excuse us." He said in almost a growl and led Lily away from them. She walked along in silence. What's going through her head right now? Once they made it safely away from prying eyes, he pulled her in close and wrapped his arms around her so she couldn't escape. Her eyes widened, a flicker of fear in her eyes.

"Care to explain yourself?" He asked her, his head dipping to her ear and releasing a growl. To his surprise, she shuddered in response and gripped his shirt.

"I... I don't know what came over me... She just... I didn't..." struggled to put her words together.

"Who?" He asked in another growl, this time his hips pressed against her. She let out a beautiful gasp.

"The reporter!" She let out, her cheeks flushing. The exotic smell between her thighs gave her away easily.

"What about her?" He asked, his lips hovering over hers now. He wanted to explore her mouth again.

"I didn't like how she looked at you." She finally admitted, her breathing shallow and coming in pants. He let his next growl rumble in his chest and he watched as her eyes widened as she sank to her knees. Her body trembled lightly as her scent washed over him.

Did she just cum?

"How she looked at me?" He asked her, not truly recalling anything out of the ordinary with the reporter. Lily struggled back to her feet, his hands supporting her.

"You may not have noticed since you're so used to it." She said, her tone harsh. He thought back to the reporter and her questions. She seemed eager to see who his date was. Was the reporter actually interested in being his date?

"Lily, I'm not interested in her. Wait, is that why you kissed me?" He asked her and she blushed deeply. She pulled away from his hands, her insecurities rushing back to her.

"I just... I don't know." She was gripping her hair and started pacing. "I'm so confused right now. I want to heal properly, yet I just want to throw myself at you." She groaned, going up to a wall of the building, and rested her head against it. He watched her carefully, his Wolf loving every word she spoke.

"Nothing is wrong with wanting someone." He tried to console her, but she spun around to face him.

"Jayce, I'm a broken package. I'm so broken, I don't know where all of my pieces went to put me back together. You don't want this." She gestured to herself, hopelessness in her eyes. "Besides that, you need to find your Mate still, and I don't want to intervene with that." She shook her head. He stepped toward her, one hand on the wall beside her head while the other tipped her chin up. The electrical impulses convulsed along his skin. She released a gasp, her lips parting and her eyelids grew heavy.

"You feel that?" His voice was a deep whisper on her lips. She only nodded, biting her lip, "This only happens when the soul-link is created." He told her. Her eyes focused in on his face, slowly growing wider.

"We're Mates?" She asked him. He only nodded, his thumb brushing against her lips. She licked it, making him growl in response. She pressed her thighs together.

"I know how broken you are. I know that you're missing pieces, but I will do everything in my power to help you heal." He took her hand and placed it over his heart, "You're my Mate. My Queen. Your happiness means the world to me." He caressed her cheek with the back of his fingers. She leaned into his touch.

"That's so much to take in." She told him.

"I know, which is why I'm fine if you need your space to let it sink in." He told her, forcing himself to step away from him. Her breathing went back to normal, but he could still hear her racing heartbeat.

"You'll let me have some time?" She asked him, and though he didn't like it, he nodded.

"Whatever you need." He told her and she nodded slowly. It was quiet between them as the streets died down somewhat into the afternoon. He felt a tug on his shirt and when he glanced down, she was pulling on him gently.

"Can we hold hands?" She asked shyly. He let out a sigh at her, but he grabbed her hand, slipping his fingers between hers before walking.

For an adult woman, she's fucking adorable.

They made their way back to the mansion, their fingers still entwined, when a man on a motorcycle sped up the driveway and parked behind his Audi. He recognized the cyclist as Damion as he took off his helmet and brushed his fingers through his brown hair, his hazel eyes landing on the duo.

"Well, aren't we just cozy?" He joked. Lily blushed, releasing Jayce's hand. Damion chuckled at her as he approached, "I have that information you wanted." He said to him as he took off his backpack and handed over a file. Lily leaned closer to peek, but he held it out of range.

"Official pack business." He told her, watching her pout.

"Well, I have to get my next draft going." She looked up at him, her eyes bright with innocence. "Dinner?" She asked him. He smiled down at her.

"Absolutely." He replied. She returned the smile, waving bye to Damion before going inside. Damion cocked a brow at him, "I told her."

"Hell yeah!" Damion whooped loudly. "And she took it well?" He asked, and Jayce ran a hand through his hair slowly.

"Better than I expected, honestly. But we'll be taking things slow for now while she's in therapy." He glanced down at the folder, his eyes glaring at the name on the flap.

Jasper Goldstein

"I haven't peeked at it yet. I just grabbed whatever I could find and rushed over." His Beta told him as they went inside. Jayce perked his ears around carefully, hearing Lily upstairs in her room.

"That bastard won't know what hit him. I'll set out now. I'll be back by the time the festival starts." He said as he got to his feet. Jayce stood with him, holding his arm out. Damion smirked, grabbing his forearm and gripped it. "You're my Alpha, my King, and my best friend. I'd do anything for you, and I know you'd do the same for me." He said to him.

"Be careful, brother." Jayce said to him as Damion left. He piled everything into the folder and locked it in the drawer. He sat back in his chair, looking out the window. A soft buzz came from his phone.

"Alpha Jayce." Dr. Marshall's voice came through.

"Doctor, I didn't realize Lily had an appointment today." He said.

"She didn't. I wanted to speak with you since you're her Mate."

"Alright, go on." He said. She let out a breath, the sound of a soft click of a door shutting on her end.

"I wish I caught this sooner, but with her progress lately, I've overlooked it." She said in a softer tone.

"Is everything okay?" He asked her.

"I didn't want my receptionist to hear me, so I tucked myself away into my office. Listen, Jayce. You need to remain calm. This crucial information I'm about to tell you could set Lily back to square one." She said. His Wolf growled within him.

"Continue." He said sternly.

"During one of her recent sessions, Lily vaguely mentioned about Jasper tasting her blood." She told him. Jayce felt his heart stop beating, a chill running up his spine. "I think Jasper may be a Vampire, and if I'm right, Lily is in grave danger." She told him. His protective instincts were trying to shine through now.

"He is. Just looking at his picture Damion brought me, he has the fangs. Doctor Marshall, how much danger is Lily in, exactly?" His voice teetered on the dangerous as he slowly got up from his chair.

"From what I have been able to gather about them, Vampires drink blood from their victims to sustain life." She swallowed. "They don't need to kill their victim, either. They just need a small bit of their blood." She stopped.

"What is it?" He urged her on.

"Once they taste their blood, they can influence it. Slowly at first, until they work their way into their victim's minds. Therefore Lily can see him so vividly when she breaks down. He's still torturing her."

"She's been better lately, though." He argued.

"Which is good. It means he's losing his grasp over her. But Jayce... the other effect to them drinking the blood is that they can also track their victim that way. He could hunt her at this very minute."
