Chapter81
We couldn’t let him scare me into submission. I looked at Asher
and nodded.
“Take him and lock him up,” Asher said, his voice sharp with
authority. “We’re not letting him go. Not after what he’s done.””
The guards poured in and dragged Isaac away. He was cackling
with evil laughter the whole time, cursing Mia to never wake
It almost broke my heart when I looked my lifeless
daughter in my arms.
“Wait a second.‘ Julie suddenly spoke up, her eyes narrowing at
Kylie. “Do you have something to do with this? Was this your
plan?”
Kylie raised an eyebrow. Then she admitted almost proudly.
“Yes,” she giggled. “When you contacted me last night, I reached
out to Isaac. You kept reminding me that my mate is a rogue. So
it’s only natural for me to work with him.”

“Are you fucking kidding me right now?!” I roared, my voice
shaking with fury. “You teamed up with Isaac? Used children as
leverage? Do you even realize what you’ve done?!”
Kylie didn’t flinch. If anything, she looked pleased with herself.
“Oh, spare me the lecture, Violet,” she said, her voice sharp and
defensive. “Why is it always you and Asher in control of
everything? Who decided you get to play heroes and make all
the rules?”
“This isn’t about control, Kylie! You’re playing with people’s
lives. With children’s lives!”
She scoffed, crossing her arms over her chest. “And why
shouldn’t I? Isaac and I are all tired of you two running the
games. Look how miserable you’d made us once you are in
charge. That changes now! I’m proving that I’m just as capable
as any of you at ruling this world.”
“You think this is power?” I spat. “Threatening innocent lives?
You’re pathetic!”
She laughed, “Your daughter’s still in a coma and you don’t even
know how to save her. Now who’s the pathetic one?”
My hands curled into fists. I wanted to scream, to hit

something–to hit her. But Asher stopped me.
“Don’t waste time on her. We need to get the doctor to take a
look at Mia.” he urged.
Guards came yanked Kylie away. And we rushed to take Mia to
a room. The doctor arrived soon after, his brow slick with
sweat as he hurried in.
“Please check my daughter. What’s happening with Mia?” I
cried, my voice trembling.
He quickly got to his work. His frown grew tighter and tighter
as he examined. Then he sighed, his voice hesitant. “This is
worse than I thought.”
“What do you mean?!” my heart almost stopped.
“Someone may have given her the Celestine Bloom!”
The words sent a chill down my spine. I staggered back a step,
my knees suddenly weak. Celestine Bloom. The cursed plant. It
was rare, dangerous–deadly. And my daughter had it.
“What’s the cure?” Asher demanded, his voice sharp with anger.
The doctor shook his head grimly. “I’m sorry, Alpha Asher, I’m

afraid I don’t have the skills to treat her. If she truly ingested
Celestine Bloom, then her time is limited.”
I swayed on my feet. If Asher hadn’t caught me in time, I’d have
dropped to the ground.
“Limited?” I choked out, my voice breaking. “No… no, there has
to be another way. Something you can do!”
“I wish there were,” the doctor said quietly, looking at Mia’s
unconscious form with pity. “But my hands are tied.
Maybe.maybe there’s someone in the Night Shade Pack who
can help her because Celestine Bloom is the magic word’s plant.
But right now, there’s nothing I can do to wake her!”
Asher turned away, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles
