Fated to My Twin Sister's Alpha (Violet and Asher) novel Chapter 57

Chapter 57

Asher’s POV

I was glad that Isaac was here. With all the crazy shits that had

been happening around me, I wanted to know my brother

better. He was the only family member that I had left.

He was already in the great hall when I came in. He stood

beside the throne, his fingers gently tracing the armrest, a

thoughtful look flickering across his face.

Isaac!I called out. He turned with a small smile playing at the

corners of his lips as he approached.

Asher.

We hugged. But something about his tone was off. There was a

stiffness to his posture, a guardedness in his eyes. I brushed it

off, trying not to read too much into it. Maybe he was still sad

about our parents. And it took time to get used to having a

brother around.

So what brings you here?

Nothing. Just here to see if you are

alright. You weren’t around the last time I came.

Yeah I needed some space to myself a while ago. But now

everything is fine. I am back.

He chuckled lightly, the expression on his face getting stranger.

And then he said something that immediately put me on edge:

You know, last time I was here, Violet wasn’t exactlyfriendly.

His tone casual, but his eyes flickered with something cold.

I frowned, What do you mean not friendly.Violet knows you are my brother. She always wants us to get along.

He gave a small shrug, the casual smile fading as he looked away. Who knows? Maybe she’s all sweet and proper on the

surface, but a completely different story behind the scenes.

My gaze became sharp. Nobody got to insult my mate. Not even

my brother.

Where are you going with this Isaac?

He noticed the tension and put on a smile again. Look, Asher, I

meant no harm alright?he patted my shoulder, I know how

much you love that woman and that makes her my family too.

But at the end of the day, she is not our blood. I don’t want her

coming between us and talk shit behind my back. It hurst our

feeling.’

Those words didn’t make things better. Instead, a mix of

confusion and anger started bubbling up. That’s ridiculous,I

said, my voice sharp. Violet has been nothing but supportive!

She wouldn’t say anything bad about you, Isaac. Unless she has

a very good reason.

I knew my Violet. She had the gentlest soul. Just see how many

times she had forgiven her awful family. That woman would

never blame anyone for no reason.

What did Violet know about Isaac that I didn’t? I regretted not

talking to her first before I came to meet Isaac.

Did you give her a reason to be mad?I asked Isaac, narrowing

my eyes.

He snorted loudly, You are very biased, brother. Shouldn’t

trust a woman that much. Hell, I don’t know. You’re about to be

the Wolf King, and she’s going to be your queen. Maybe that makes her think she’s above everyone nowIncluding me.

That was it.

The sarcasm, the verbal attack, the arrogance in his wordsit

set me off. He wasn’t like this when we last met.

Enough,I said, my voice low, a growl slipping through my

words. Don’t talk about Violet like that. Ever again! She’s never

looked down on anyone, and she’s never thought of herself as

above anyone. I’m starting to think you are attacking her for no

reason.

Isaac’s eyes flickered, and he gave a small, almost mocking

smile. But I couldn’t tell he wasn’t sorry. He just didn’t want to

enrage me so soon.

Alright, alright,he said, holding his hands up in mock

surrender. I was just saying. No need to get so worked up.

So, now tell me. Why are you here?

I told you already.Isaac gave a small shrug, his eyes glancing

away for a moment. I just wanted to see if you were back yet.

Why am I not welcomed? I’m going to be the Alpha of this pack.

Surely I can visit, inspect my own land or something.

I narrowed my eyes, watching him closely.

This felt nothing like a casual visit. I might believe his shit

before we had that conversation about Violet. But nor

anymore.

You know,I said, my voice steady, the Royal Council decided

to appoint you as the new Alpha of my pack while I take on the

role of Wolf King.

I watched him closely as I spoke, and I didn’t miss the way his

eyes lit up, the flash of pride that crossed his face.

He was too pleased with the news, and it made my unease

grow.

But I have someone else in mind for the role,I added, my eyes

still locked on his.

Isaac’s reaction was immediate. His face twisted, his eyes

narrowing as he glared at me.

WHAT?!he cried, his voice rising, the calm facade slipping

away. Are you kidding me, Asher? That job is mine! This is my

fucking birthright! You can’t take it away from me. NOT

AGAIN!

His anger proved my theory: He was here after the power and
