Chapter 55
Asher’s POV
Violet’s screams echoed through the house, each one sharper
than the last.
The pain in her voice was enough to make anyone’s heart
break, and it wasn’t just me who felt it. Her brothers were all
waiting outside of her room, their faces twisted in agony.
I could feel their pain, their frustration, their helplessness. They
were angry–angry at me for what I had done to their sister,
angry at Violet for her stubbornness, for refusing to let herself
be helped.
Jayden suddenly whirled around and shoved on my shoulder.
My Beta was always respectful. Although we grew up together,
he never forgot his manner in front of me. But today it all
changed.
“It’s all your fault!”
He stood there, roaring, his face flushed with rage, his eyes dark
with resentment. I could see it in the way he looked at me, the
way his fists clenched at his sides.
“You think you can just come and go as you please?” he
snapped, “Do you even realize what you’ve done to her? While
you were off avoiding everything, hiding from your own pain,
Violet was here, deal with everything that should have been
your fucking job! She stayed behind, she picked up the pieces,
she did everything you couldn’t! You fucking coward!”
He shoved me again. I clenched my fists, but didn’t react.
He was right. Everything he said was true. I had left, thinking I
could fix everything on my own. I thought I was protecting her
by staying away. I thought I could come back when everything
was better, and she’d understand.
But I was wrong. I didn’t know she would be in heart while I
was gone. And now she hated me.
I could see it in the eyes of her brothers, the disappointment, the
anger. They had always trusted me, respected me, and I had let
them down. I had let Violet down. And I couldn’t blame them
for the way they looked at me now. I deserved every bit of it.
The door opened up again and Julia stepped out.
“How is she?” Jayden asked urgently.
“Not better. Not worse. She needs the comfort from her mate,”
Julia said, her eyes meeting mine for a brief moment. “Let’s give
them some space. I’ll take care of Mia.”
Mia.
She must be so confused over the past few days, not knowing
where I had been. Was she suffering too? Was she feeling the
same pain as Violet? The thought made my chest tighten, made
it hard to breathe.
I wasn’t ready to face her yet. Not like this. Not when I was
barely holding myself together.
Jayden gave me one last harsh look before he turned and left
with the others. I immediately walked back into Violet’s room.
She was still curled up on the bed, her body trembling with the
fever. That sight broke my heart all over again.
I moved to her side, sitting down on the edge of the bed, my
hand brushing her hair away from her face.
She flinched at my touch, her eyes half–open, looking at me
through tears.
“It’s me babe. Just…” I whispered, my voice trembling, almost

begging. “Just please…don’t push me away. Let me stay with
you. It’s all I’m asking.”
I was praying with my entire soul. She stared at me with pain
still obvious on her face. And this time, she didn’t push me
away. She didn’t scream at me to leave.
Joy exploded in my like fireworks. I leaned closer, my lips
brushing against her forehead.
“I’m so sorry,” I kissed her, murmuring. “I’m so, so sorry, Violet. I
know I hurt you. I know I made mistakes. But I’m here now. I
won’t let you go through this alone.”
She let out a small, choked sob, her hand gripping the sheets
beneath her. I wrapped my arms around her, pulling her close,
my heart aching as I felt her body trembling against mine. I
whispered words of comfort, my voice soft, trying to calm her,
trying to ease the pain.
“It’s okay,” I murmured, my hand running down her back in
slow, gentle strokes. “I’m here, and I’m not leaving. I’m going to
take away all of this pain. I promise.”
Violet’s body relaxed slightly, her head resting against my
chest, her breathing still labored but less strained. I could feel

broken cry, twirling her body to welcome my touch. Juice
started to pour out. When I felt that she was wet enough, I
inserted two fingers into her tight pussy.
She threw her head to the back and groaned, eyes rolling, toes
