Chapter 181
Asher’s POV
I stood near the doorway, watching as Violet embraced her
family. The warmth in her eyes as she held Charlotte, the small
smile that lingered when she reassured Mia–these were the
moments I wanted to protect.
Philip stood beside me, his expression tight with restraint. I
didn’t need to ask to know he had news. With one last glance at
Violet, I stepped aside with hirn.
“Now, the investigation has made initial progress.” Philip said,
his voice low. “The former queen gained access to the palace
with the help of a kitchen maid. She was being threatened–her
family was under the former queen’s control.”
I exhaled sharply, rubbing my jaw. “And where is she now?”
“She’s being held, but. Asher, she had no choice. She was
protecting her family!”
I understood. A mother would do anything to protect her family–Violet had proved that already. But betrayal was

betrayal, no matter the reason.
“But she still opened the door,” I said firmly. “Dismiss her. She
can take her family and leave, but she’s no longer welcome in
the palace.”
Philip nodded. “I figured you’d say that.“‘Once it involves Violet,
I will not back down. “There’s more.” ·
“What?“The maid mentioned something strangeWhen The
former queen entered the palace, she wasn’t alone.”
“Who was with her?” My gaze instantly became sharp.
“A man,” Philip said. “Wearing a mask and a hood. He never
spoke a word, but he handed The former queen a knife. And
then he disappeared.”
I clenched my fists. We all know that knife–carve a curse into
my mate and child’s fate.
Things got complicated. A powerful accomplice means it wasn’t
just revenge, or just a widow seeking justice for a fallen king.
Someone else had orchestrated this, someone with an agenda
far bigger than a desperate former queen.
Philip shifted, waiting for my response.

“Find him,” I ordered. “Search every corner of the kingdom. I
don’t care how long it takes. If there’s a mastermind behind this,
we need to know who.”
Philip nodded and left without another word.
I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling slowly, forcing my
thoughts to settle.
“Something wrong?” Violet’s voice pulled me back.
I turned to see her watching me from the bed, her brows
slightly furrowed. I knew I should tell her, but the last thing I
wanted was to add another weight to her shoulders.
“Philip was asking about the former queen’s body,” I lied.
“Wanted to know how to deal with it.”
Violet seemed to consider this before sighing. “Let Matthew
handle it,” she said. “She was his mother–at least by name.”
I nodded. “I’ll tell him.”
As the day stretched on, one by one, the visitors left. The
warmth of family faded into silence, until it was just Violet and
me in the dimly lit room.
She shifted against the pillows, watching me “Youte still

I didn’t answer.
“If you’re so concerned about my body, why don’t you come and check it yourself?” she murmured
I walked to the bed, and the moment I was witin tech Violet pulled me down, her lips meeting mine in a quick Kiss.
My tension snapped. She’s right.
As she deepened the kiss, her body pressing into mine.
“Violet I murmured against her lips, but she only smiled, sliding her hands down my chest. She shifted, straddling me, rolling her hips just enough to make my breath hitch. My fingers dug into her waist, and her ass rubbed against my groin. A groan escaped me, my body reacting instantly to the friction. The warmth of her, the scent of her skin–it was overwhelming in the best way possible. Pregnancy made Violet more beautiful, and every inch of her drove me insane.
“Violet” I restrained myself and called out her name.
She laughed softly, her lips grazing my jaw. “Yes, my dear
