Chapter 18
Violet’s POV
My head hurt as hell after I woke up. Asher could feel my pain. The mark had bonded us even closer together.
“It is because you brain can’t handle the nightmare. But don’t worry. It will get better soon.”
He let me rest my head on his chest and started rubbing my temples. His gentle movement, his warmth, his steady heartbeat, everything about this moment was so precious. It almost felt
stolen.
“We are officially husband and wife now,” he kissed me on the back of my neck, where he marked me. “You are my Luna. This is
my dream coming true.”
It was so sweet. But I still winced a little.
He caught that fleeting reaction of mine, “What’s wrong?”
I gulped, “It’s just that…I don’t think the people in your pack are
too thrilled about me being your Luna. Everyone hates me.”
I had seen how members glared at me when we took Kylie to the
hospital. It was like I was the third woman, an adulator.
“It is people in YOUR pack as well,” he corrected me. “And nobody
hates you. They just didn’t get a chance to know you a little bit
better. Once they do, they will fall in love with you instantly.”
“You think so?” I grimaced.
“I do. They just want to know why you left our pack for 5 years
and never returned once. And they want to hear it from you.
People in this pack value loyalty. When they realize that it was
not a loyalty issue, they will accept you.”
He made it sound like easy. But I knew it was not.

Kylie had always been everyone’s favorite growing up. She was
ladylike, graceful, and elegant, whereas I was the complete
opposite. My parents chose her to become Asher’s Luna partly
because they had bias, but a more important reason was Kylie
was a born Luna material in everyone’s eyes.
So could I really fit her shoes? I didn’t think the members would
love to see a tomboy replace a lady.
It was so nerve wrecking.
“I knew I was your mate, but I still left you for 7 years and let
Kylie shoulder the responsibility of being your Luna. Once that
get out, nobody will like me. They will think that I am a runner,” I
sighed.
“You didn’t choose it.”
“Yes. But the members won’t understand.”
“Then they will just have to live with it,” Asher shrugged. “Don’t
worry. I will find a way to make people accept you. They will
cave.”
He was a strong leader. I had no doubt that he could force people
to accept his decision. But that was not what I wanted.
I needed to win people’s heart myself. But so far it still seemed
impossible. Because my reputation stunk, and I hadn’t really been
a very good role model for anyone.
A gentle knock came from the door.

Mia squeezed in rubbing her eyes. She was crying.
“Mia sweetheart, what’s the matter?” I immediately slipped off
bed and went to hug her. “Did the guards bring you here?”
“Yes. Mommy…I want my mommy…” she sobbed.
I was reluctant at first. But then I realized that Asher was very
enemy.
