Chapter164
The words came out harder than I anticipated.
And I instantly knew who that person was.
Oh my god, Kylie was Matthew’s mate?”
The only person that I know who died because she was
obsessed with Asher was Kylie, and nobody told me that
Matthew was her mate.
“I am not going to respond to this matebond. Because I know I
will never love you for who you are. This whole thing between
us is nothing but our wolf instinct. The Moon Goddess thinks
she has a right to decide who is our best partner. But I don’t think so.” I said stubbornly. I wouldn’t let anyone control me,
not even the god.
He gave me a snort, “You are already in love with me, but
you’re afraid of losing control, so you’re hiding behind a
childhood crush.“”
I hated when people like him acted like they knew everything about me. I didn’t owe him an explanation for what was inside

“You can stop wasting your time. I don’t want you,” I said. “I want him, and it should have been my choice.””
“Well then, what are you waiting for then? Just reject me,” he snapped, his face twisted with pain as he turned away.
I could see how hurt he was, and this felt like his last chance.
“Are you spying on us for the council?” I asked before he could completely leave. I didn’t know why I asked that. Maybe I just didn’t want this conversation to end.
He didn’t give me a chance to say anything else before he pulled me up by my shoulders.
“Don’t play this game with me,” he whispered into my ears. “You have two options. Either reject me right now, or I’ll
assume that you accept this matebond.”
This was the first time I actually got to look at him in the eye, and I saw him, and he saw me.
My body reacted before my mind did. I leaned over and kissed
him.

Asher’s POV
This was my idea, but that didn’t mean I had to like it.
“Look after our little ones for me,” I murmured, my arms
tightening around her. Just the thought of being away from
them made my chest feel hollow. I had no clue how I was
supposed to function without them, but I knew this was the
right call.
She held onto me just as desperately, her breath shaky against
my shoulder. I sighed, closing my eyes for a moment.
“This isn’t the end, baby. I swear it,” I said softly. “I’ll do
whatever it takes to put an end to this before it even begins. I
won’t let Xavier ruin our children’s future.”
Her hands trembled as she gripped my arms. “You better come
back in one piece, or I swear-”
A small smirk tugged at my lips despite the ache in my chest.
“Or what? You gonna hunt me down yourself?”
“Exactly,” she muttered, sniffling.
I pressed my forehead to hers. “You’ve got a long journey ahead.
Promise me you’ll be careful.”

She nodded, though the worry in her eyes was unmistakable. “I’ll be okay.”
Alpha Charlotte stepped up beside us, her expression firm. “I’ll send reinforcements the moment I arrive at Nightshade Pack.”
Charlotte had insisted on going with them, and I didn’t argue. She’d be far more useful working outside the chaos than stuck here in the middle of it.
Philip looked just as gutted as I felt, his face pale as he watched his mate walk away. But he stood his ground, letting her go without breaking down. I respected him for that.
I had to do the same.
“Alright,” I said, my voice rough “Back to work.”
