Chapter152
“Well, look at you,” the stranger sneered. “Trying to play the hero. Last time I checked, you were working for me. So what changed?”
My stomach dropped. This wasn’t just any man–this had to be Alpha Xavier.
Michael didn’t flinch. “Stay away from my sister”
There was something unspoken between them, something I didn’t have time to unpack.
Xavier smirked, tilting his head slightly. “We both know you’re too weak to protect her.” His voice was almost teasing, but the threat was clear. “So I’ll give you one chance. Walk away, or this time, I’ll kill you.”
Violet’s POV
Trust is a fragile thing. Once it’s broken, doubt creeps in like a shadow, impossible to shake. I casted a wary glance at Max,
afraid that if he hesitated even for a second, Xavier would seize
the moment and overpower us.
Chapter152
“You can order the whole world around if you want and there might be a lot of people who buy your shit. But I see right through you little game. And I’m telling you now–I’m not letting you anywhere near my sister.”
Michael stepped in front of me, his body a solid wall between me and Xavier. The way he squared his shoulders, the sharp edge in his voice–it told me more than his words ever could
He had made a decision to stay on my side.
Xavier let out a low chuckle. “You have guts. This I have to give it to you, Michael. You actually think you can stand in my way? That’s cute. But let’s be honest–you can’t beat me. And you are the reason why I’m this strong.”
I froze. My heart stuttered. “What are you talking about?”
Xavier’s expression was pure amusement. “Oh, you don’t know?” He feigned surprise, eyes glinting with something cruel “Your dear Michael has been feeding me his blood this whole time. Even bottled up a supply for me. My body has never been fueled with so much energy before.”
Everything inside me turned cold. I turned to Michael,
searching his face for an answer. “Tell me that’s not true.”
Chapter152
His fists clenched, his breathing uneven. “I never gave him my
blood willingly.”
His voice was raw, filled with anger and something else–pain.
Whatever Xavier had done to him, it hadn’t been by choice.
I turned to Xavier and said with a sneer, “So what now? Your
stash ran dry, and you need a fresh supply?”
Michael shifted beside me, tense as a coiled spring. I could tell he
wanted to lunge at Xavier, but I wasn’t done yet.
Xavier exhaled like this was all one big inconvenience. “Power
is addictive, you know. Once you get a taste, you just keep
wanting more. And what better source than the bloodline that
rules them all?”
I crossed my arms. “You think the throne is going to give you
more power?”
Xavier laughed. “The throne? It’s nothing but a title. I don’t give
a damn about sitting on it. What I want is you. Your brothers.
And your mate.“”
His eyes locked onto mine, and for the first time, I truly
understood how dangerous he was.
Chapter152
“You’re powerful, Violet,” he murmured. “And I want that
power for myself. And I always get what I want.”
A sharp burst of fury ran through me. “Forget it. You’re never
going to have me. Or Asher.”
Xavier tilted his head, his grin razor–sharp. “Then I’ll give you
two choices–you come willingly, or I wipe out everyone you
love.”
Blackmail. How predictable. He really thought he could
manipulate me into surrendering? He was about to be very
disappointed.
I raised my palm and dragged a claw across it, letting the blood
