Chapter13
Violet’s POV
ww
Mia refused to talk during the funeral. She remained in silence
even after they buried her parents.
I was worried. I knew the child had trauma and she must be
keeping all those negative emotions to herself, but I didn’t know
how to help her if she wouldn’t let me in.
The pack doctor told me that the best way to treat Mia was give her time to heal her own wound and kept her company during
the whole process.
So that was exactly what I did now–staying close by Mia’s side in
case she needed anything.
After the funeral, Asher invited me to move outside of the
packhouse.
He had a huge mansion in the countryside. The place was built
years ago but stayed empty over the years.
Some people said that he had this house made for his Luna. But
he and Kylie lived in the packhouse throughout their entire
marriage.
Now he asked me to move in. It was probably a signal that he was
ready to accept me again.
But we hadn’t had the talk yet.
There were so many unresolved issues between us. We should
definitely talk it through before moving on the next step. But he
seemed to be avoiding this.
“Do we really have to do this so soon?” I asked Asher, “Mia just
lost her parents. She doesn’t have that kind of energy to deal with
a new environment.”
We were standing by the window, watching Mia played in the
garden.
She seemed happier outside, although most of the time she just
sat on the lawn gazing numbly into the air, which was a horrific
resemblance of her mother before she killed herself.
“Sometimes I feel like I haven’t done enough for this child,” I
sighed. “Why hasn’t she gotten any better? What am I missing?”
Asher held my hand and gave me a comforting little squeeze,
“You are too tensed. Children sensed that kind of negative
energy. You need to be more patient. Healing emotional trauma
takes time.”
I guessed he was right.
Probably because Elena died in my sleep, I couldn’t let this child
leave my sight for a single second, afraid that Mia would repeat
her mother’s past.
Now Mia was with her nanny and surrounded by a team of
guards. But I still stayed close to the window so that I could see
her any second.
I guessed I was indeed way to nervous.
“So what do you say? A new environment might be good for Mia
too,” he said.
I let out a long sigh and turned to him. He opened his arms and let
me in. I could hear his steady heartbeat and smell his scent,
which was so soothing.
“Can we talk?” I murmured, “Don’t you have any questions for
me?”
He was stroking my hair. His hand stopped abruptly when I said
this.
Then he slightly detached himself from me and said, “Sure. But I
have had a long day at the training field already. Let’s do this
later”
He was avoiding me again. I didn’t know what he was afraid of
really.
He saw my disappointment. I was about to walk away from him
and headed into the garden, but he grabbed my shoulder
spinning around and pressed me again the wall.
I was in his arms again.
This time his hand traveled down my back and lingered on my
waist. His head was in the hollow of my neck, nibbling my skin.
He was so irresistible. My legs went soft at once. I would slide
down against the wall if he wasn’t holding me.
I could hear the watery sound from my bottom. He fingered me
