Chapter114
I held his gaze. “This isn’t your fault and I don’t hold you
responsible for it.” If I needed to be responsible for everything
my brother ever did, this kingdom wouldn’t have a King
anymore.
Jayden sighed and looked over at Violet, as though he wanted to say something but hesitated.
“Asher has been through enough,” she suddenly said. “He needs
rest.”
She was avoiding his gaze.
Something was definitely off. The three of them was hiding
something.
But I didn’t have the energy to interrogate them right now. I’d
find out my own way.
“Thanks for keeping things together while I was gone,” I said
instead.
Jayden shook his head. “We didn’t do anything. Your mate
handled it all”
I smirked. “She tends to do that”
Jayden let out a low chuckle. “She’s not just a mate anymore, Alex. She’s a queen.”
I glanced at Violet, who was standing beside me, stronger than ever. He was right.
“But you stood by her,” I said, looking at the three of them. “And that matters.
Philip sighed. “Get some rest. We’ll talk later” He and Liam turned to leave.
As soon as the door closed, I turned to Violet.
“What’s going on between the three of you?”
She froze.
I wasn’t blind.
They were keeping something from me.
And I was going to find out what.

“We’re just dealing with some family drama,” Violet said, her tone light, but there was an undercurrent of unease in her
voice. “It’s nothing we can’t handle.”
I didn’t believe her.
Not for a second.
“Who helped you find me?” I asked instead, my mind flashing back to the blurred memory of another presence, someone I hadn’t been able to clearly see. “And who else was with you?”
She blinked. “It was just Michael and me.”
I didn’t miss the slight change in her heartbeat, the way her
pulse quickened just slightly.
A lie.
“No, there was someone else,” I said slowly, testing the waters. “I
remember-”
“There’s no one,” she interrupted firmly.
I narrowed my eyes. I didn’t know why she was hiding the
truth, but I let it go–for now.

Because there was something more important at stake.
“Who helped Michael? He couldn’t have done all of this alone.”
Violet tensed.
The moment I got my answer, everyone involved would pay.
Kylie’s POV
The cold dampness of the dungeon seeped into my bones, making me shiver despite the numbness settling deep in my soul.
This was the first time I truly regretted my past choices.
Years spent consumed by hatred for Violet, years wasted on a war that was never really ours to begin with. If I had just let go of that hatred, maybe–just maybe–I could have lived a different
life.
A life with my mate.
A life where I wasn’t chained by my own mistakes.
A shadow shifted in the doorway, and I didn’t need to turn my
head to know who it was. Because I could smell his scent the

moment he stepped into this dungeon.
“I’m sorry!” he murmured, “But Violet said she wasn’t going to forgive you.”
“Violet has every right to feel the way she does,” I said, “And I don’t blame her.””
He stepped forward, the dim torchlight casting flickering shadows over his weary face.
Matthew looked tired and devastated. He had only just learned that I was his mate, which should be a good thing for most people. Yet he already looked like a man carrying a burden for
years.
He was a good man. He didn’t deserve this.
Hell I felt like my life was ruined the moment I discovered that
Isaac was my mate, but never did I know that a good man like
