Chapter102
“But isn’t that exactly what you came here to do? To point fingers at me?” I turned my gaze to each of them, one by one. “Don’t you dare act like I’m the only one at fault here! You all had the chance to protect Asher, and yet… you chose to do nothing. You stood by while he suffered, and now you question
me?”
“At least you could have told us before you put it out. What if Kylie and Isaac lied again? You aren’t making the most rational
decision.”
“Too late.” I said nonchalantly, “I don’t have time for your
opinions. I made that decision as the Queen.”
Jayden’s face twisted, anger boiling over. “You’re letting the
power get to you! I warned you about this–this cold, ruthless
path you’re on. It’ll change you. You’re becoming something
you’re not. You are turning into the old Queen!!!”
That fucking stung.
I felt the urge to cry. But no. I would not look weak in front of
them.
Chapter 102
“You don’t get it, Jayden. You don’t know what it’s like to lose
everything. To lose the one person who really mattered to you.
Now you have the nerve to lecture me about coldness?”
I stepped forward, my voice rising. “I’m tired of being told what
to do. I’m tired of waiting for everyone else to act while my
mate is out there, suffering because of your silence! You all
failed him, not just Michael. YOU ALL FAILED ME!”
The silence in the room was suffocating.
For a moment, Jayden stood frozen, as if he didn’t know how to
respond. And then, just as I thought the tension would snap, the
phone rang.
I looked at the caller ID. It was Michael.
If he was really the kind of person that Kylie said he was, then
he had called in for only one purpose–to brag.
“Great timing.” I looked around the room, “Maybe you should
hear out what he has to say before blaming me.”
The tension in the room grew even more palpable as I swiped to
answer the call and put it on speaker.
“Violet.”
Chapter 102
Michael’s voice smooth as honey, cold as snake. Completely
different from how I remembered his voice would sound.
“Do you like the surprise I’ve prepared for you?”
“Tell me why you did it. Tell me why you hurt Asher!” I
snapped.
There was a long pause on the other end, and I could almost
hear Michael smirking. His voice, when it finally spoke, was
laced with mockery.
“Oh, come on, Violet. Don’t tell me you still don’t get it. Isaac
made a perfect example for me. He helped me awake–If I want
something, I have to fight for it. That’s how the world works!
I’m tired of being in Asher’s shadow. I’m tired of being the
second choice, the afterthought.”
Jayden and Philip’s eyes grew wide as though they couldn’t
believe those words came out from Michael’s mouth.
Michael continued, his tone growing more bitter with each
word, “It’s not fair.SO NOT FAIR! I have also done a lot to prove
my worth. But no, nobody saw it. All they saw was Asher.
Fucking Asher.n the golden child, the perfect one–the one
everyone adores!”
Chapter102
I could feel my blood boiling, and I couldn’t stop the words that
came next.
“So you decided to destroy him? You decided to hurt the one
person who loved you like a brother? For what, Michael? For
power?!”
I could hear his chuckle, low and mocking. “Power, yes. But
also, freedom. Freedom from living under the weight of his
perfection. Freedom from always being second.”
I felt the room close in on me, the weight of his words
suffocating.
I had always seen Michael as the person who would stand by
