Maxine was half skeptical, “Really?”
“Of course it was true.”
Paulette promised, “I’ll come back to see you all once I’ve settled down, okay?”
Comforted Maxine, even with a helper, Elnora breezed through that part easily.
Jeremiah’s car was parked at the intersection waiting for Paulette. She finished eating and dragged her luggage out the door. The driver saw this and quickly got out of the car to help.
Elnora saw the scene and stopped Maxine and Monty, saying, “Wait! Let me see who that is…”
Unfortunately, the distance was too far, couldn’t even see the man’s face clearly.
But the figure is quite good.
Elnora was in a good mood, squinting her eyes and saying, “No wonder you’re in such a hurry, turns out you’re in love…talk, talk more, at a young age you have to experience love, right?”
Maxine and Monty glanced at each other, noncommittal.
Paulette didn’t realize she had been exposed, she just stared out the window as the scenery passed by in reverse.

Chapter 34
Monty and Maxine won’t diminish, but she… will say goodbye to Nelson’s life for good.
The car drove a long distance, then Paulette’s phone rang.
Nelson’s voice on the phone: “Paulette, you better go apologize to Tricia right now, or she’ll call the cops on you. I can’t protect you.”
This isn’t the first time this has happened, Paulette thought, and she found it kind of funny. “Dad, do you believe me if I say Patricia falling down has nothing to do with me?”
Nelson was silent for a second, then said coldly, “I saw it with my own
eyes, what else do you want to argue about?”
I don’t want to argue anymore.
So, “you made her call the police.”
“You…!”
“I didn’t push her, as for the truth, I believe the police will make a fair judgment.”
Paulette didn’t feel sad at all without any expectations in her heart, instead, she felt a sense of relief. Her voice was flat, “I’ll hang up now. When Ms. Carver calls the police, just have them contact me. I’ll cooperate with the investigation.”
Hearing the sound of the phone hanging up, Nelson’s face turned dark with anger.
“Nelson…”
Patricia called out to him weakly, “What’s wrong? Is Paula mad at you again?”

“Even if we don’t call the police, she still has to apologize!”
“Once the afternoon inspection report is out, we’ll go back to find her!”

Paulette was quite impressed by the fact that Patricia had been in and out of the hospital several times in just ten days.
She didn’t understand how someone could make themselves look so battered and bruised just to frame someone else.
Jeremiah’s reaction was flat, he said, “The evil of human nature is darker than you can imagine. She hurt herself to frame you because she wanted more, she thought it was worth it.”
Paulette didn’t really not understand, she just didn’t expect someone like that to show up around her.
But soon she just smiled and said, “It’s okay, anyway we won’t have any intersection in the future, just take it as… a lesson in life.”
Jeremiah didn’t say anything, he just looked at her quietly.
That was the girl he liked.
