Falling For My Mysterious Wife by Cassidy Alfaro novel Chapter 147

Chapter 147

In the restaurant, Elaina made herself at home. She didn’t eat well at the police station in the past few days.

It was not because she was worried that she couldn’t get out. It was just that the food was not delicious.

“Just enjoy it.” Jalen smiled and picked up some food for her.

While Elaina was eating, her phone rang. She quickly answered the call. “Mr. Becker?”

“Yes. It’s me.” Jaydon replied, “I’ve heard about what happened in New York. Are you alright?”

“I’m fine. I just got out of the police station,” Elaina replied as she ate.

“OK. I’m not familiar with the police in New York, so I can’t help you too much. But don’t worry, I’ll deal with the comments online,” Jaydon said.

Elaina felt that she was having good connections with others. So many people were willing to help her when she was in trouble. “OK. Thank you.”

Elaina and Jaydon chatted for a while. When Elaina hung up the phone and looked up, she found that Jalen’s expression was very serious.

Elaina was too lazy to ask about it. To her, Jaydon could be considered a friend, but Jalen…

Elaina did not know what relationship they were in right now.

Elaina did not speak, but Jalen could not keep silent. “When did your relationship with Jaydon become so close? What if he is approaching you for a bad purpose?”

“Oh? Then tell me what he wants?” Elaina smiled and asked. She reminded Jalen, “He is richer than me, and he doesn’t lack women.”

Jalen was annoyed. “Those things can’t prove that his intention is good. I am richer than you, and I don’t lack women. Why do you treat me so poorly then?”

Elaina looked at him and said nothing, but her eyes showed everything.

Jalen pursed his lips and understood.

“I just don’t like to trouble others. There are many things that I can handle myself.” It was a terrible habit to rely on others. Once the habit was formed, it would be difficult to get rid of.

Jalen took a deep breath and tried to restrain his anger. He said, “I understand. You are used to being independent.”

“Good. Don’t take it personally. It’s just that I have gotten used to that way.” Ever since Elaina was a child, her grandfather had told her to be independent and not rely on anyone. It had become a part of her.

All of a sudden, the anger in Jalen’s heart disappeared. And he felt sorry for Elaina.

She was so independent. She must have experienced a lot. Jalen wished he had met her earlier.

Elaina entered the apartment, but Jalen still stood there and did not leave.

“You can always rely on me.” Jalen suddenly said that as he faced Elaina’s back.

Elaina paused, but she did not turn around. She just waved at Jalen. Then she disappeared.
