Jalen walked in with large strides. He happened to meet Elaina’s gaze. He was stunned for a long time before he reacted.

“Are you alright?” he asked, his voice full of worry.

Elaina was surprised. She asked uncertainly, “Are you here for me?”

“What else?” Jalen’s face darkened. “Do you think I came here for a vacation?”

Elaina smiled awkwardly. She did not know how to describe her feelings. She did not expect that the first person to come to her when she was in trouble was Jalen. It was ironic.

“How are you? What happened?” He walked over to Elaina and asked about what had happened.
