Falling For My Cruel Mate novel Chapter 7

"Octavia," She lightly placed her hand on my shoulder, snapping me out of my thoughts. My eyes meet hers and I send her an apologetic smile. "I'm sorry if this is all too much, so soon."

"It's okay." I reassured her as best as I could. I was not okay. I would never see my family again. I would never be free again. Goddess knows if Ajax will even let me take a step out of this territory. I am not a Luna. I am not a pack member. I am a prisoner.

"Come join me in the kitchen, love." She says grabbing my hand and pulling me towards the kitchen without waiting for my response. I felt out of place and awkward.

I hoped that Cipher would hurry and return.

Octavia:

"Dear, will you please set the table?" Ajax's mother asked as she finishes up with the chicken and pasta.

I was surprisingly enjoying her company. She was pretty cool for an older woman. We talked a lot about food, fashion and music. Somewhere in between all of our chit chat she admitted of how fond she was of me. Surprisingly, since her son hates me.

"Of course." I smile and grab five place sets. I head over to where she had told me the dinning room was and began to set the table accordingly. Just as I finished up, the front door had opened. The smell of mint and pine, began to float throughout the house. I was guilty of purposely sniffing and picking out the scent. It smells so good. This mate attraction only made me want jump on him and never let his scent leave my nose. I clench my jaw in anger, goddess I hate him.

I listen carefully as they move into the kitchen Christina tries to greet him warmly but he cuts her off, "Where is she? Don't tell me you were stupid enough to let her escape."

Now, I was truly angered. How could he be so disrespectful to his own mother? I didn't even get to say goodbye to my mother before I was ripped away from my home and yet he talks to her with such disrespect. The things I would do just to say a proper goodbye to my family.

I stalk back in the kitchen my eyes dark with hatred. All eyes turned towards me, but I was focused on him. Praying that if I glared hard enough holes would begin to burn through his body. "Apologize to your mother."

He takes an angry step towards me. His fist clenched. "You will not tell me what to do, little girl." His eyes grew dark as he took another step forward. I stood still, pushing my shoulders back and keeping my chin up. I am an Alpha as well and I will not be treated like a worthless peasant.

Once I passed the tree line, I was tackled to the ground. His hands went straight for my throat. He was seething above me. His eyes completely black. I clawed at his wrist and arm trying to get him to loosen his grip. It was no use, his black eyes bore into mine and all I could see was my death. He was going to kill me.

I grasped the earth around me, looking for anything that would help me. I was beginning to feel weak. I needed air. I became more frantic, I did not wish to die like this. I felt the ground around me again until my hand came upon something small and hard. A rock. It didn't feel big enough to do any damage but it did feel a bit sharp.

Without a blink of the eye, I smashed the rock into the side of his head. He was taken back enough for me to kick him off of me. He growled out angrily as he felt the side of his head, his fingers becoming bloody. I got back up to my feet quickly and ran again. I had no idea where I was going. I was barely even running, it was more of a jog. I was so out of breath and afraid. For all I knew I could've been running back to his house. I pushed myself to run harder. I thought of shifting, but I knew very well that he would definitely win if we fought in wolf form.

I lost my sandals in the struggle earlier, I was covered in dirt. My feet sinking into the soft soil as I tried to run faster. I could hear his panting behind me. I wanted cry out, to call for help. I wanted to scream for my father, or my older brother. But they were no where near here. I was afraid, and had every right to be.

My breath was knocked out of my chest once more as I was slammed up against a tree. His hands digging into my shoulders and pushing me into the bark. "Submit to me." He growled lowly in my ear. I refused to hear him. I looked straight forward, doing my best to maintain a blank face. This made him him even more angry.
