Ex Cried as I Wed a Tycoon novel Chapter 354

Vera glanced at Suzan’s belly and said, “You’re pregnant, so of course Mitchell can’t be intimate with you right now. It’s normal for him to feel a bit lonely. But snapping at him isn’t the way—it just pushes him further away.”

Suzan had to admit, ever since she’d started arguing with Mitchell more often, he’d definitely grown distant.

Anxious and worried, she asked, “Mom, what should I do?”

Vera took her hand. “Come with me—I’m going to help you pick out something nice to wear for the night.”

“Nightwear? That’s not necessary. I already have plenty.”

Vera shook her head. “Not the right kind.”

Suzan followed Vera into a boutique specializing in lingerie. Only then did she realize what her mother meant by “not the right kind.”

All the pajamas Suzan thought were sexy suddenly seemed utterly tame compared to what filled these racks.

“Mom, these… these are barely more than scraps of fabric. Is this even wearable?”

Vera gave her an exasperated look. “You’re just wearing it at home, not out on the street. What are you worried about? If you want to keep Mitchell’s heart, you have to make the effort. So, are you in or not?”

Suzan had to admit, compared to Vera, she was still a novice at this.

As soon as they walked in, the sales assistant greeted Vera warmly. Clearly, Vera was a regular.

Suzan leaned in and whispered, “Mom, I had no idea you and Dad were so… adventurous.”

For a moment, Vera’s smile faltered, and something complicated flickered in her eyes.

“Pick this black one. You have fair skin—it’ll look stunning on you.”

Suzan figured her mother knew best, so she let her choose.

They left the boutique with a discreet bag in hand, unaware of a familiar figure lurking in the shadows nearby.

“Miss, would you like to buy that nightgown?” the sales assistant asked Nita with a bright smile.

She did. She actually ran.

“Sir, would you like to purchase this?” the sales assistant asked politely.

For once, Vinson’s cheeks turned red. Even with his thick skin, this was a new level of embarrassment. “No, thank you,” he muttered.

He walked out trying to look unbothered, but as soon as he was clear of the shop, he sped up to a near-jog, practically fleeing.

“Mr. Elliott.”

Nita’s head popped out from the doorway of a nearby store.

Vinson smirked to himself. Gotcha. He crossed his arms and looked at her. “So, why did you throw that thing at me and run off?”

Nita gave him an awkward smile. “Well… I figured you’d know what to do with it. You seem more experienced.”

Vinson’s eyes narrowed, a mischievous glint flashing in them.
