Echoes Of a Forsaken Heart (Natalia and Hamilton) novel Chapter 282

Natalia was momentarily stunned, then quickly responded.

"Alright, when are you leaving? I'll pack your bags."

Hamilton chuckled, "No need, I'm leaving shortly. Keep safe these next few days, and always have Killian with you when you go out. I'll be back soon."

Natalia nodded, "How long will you be gone this time?"

"Three days," Hamilton's voice softened.

"When I return, shall we go get our marriage license?"

Natalia was taken aback.

Hamilton laughed, "Natalia, wait for me."

With that, he ended the call.

Natalia stared at her phone, a smile unwittingly forming on her lips.

Scarlett appeared beside her, wrapping an arm around her shoulder.

"Chatting with your man again?"

Natalia smiled, "When did you get here?"

Scarlett pouted, "Elliott dragged me over here, insisting I check out their hospital's facilities. As if that matters without Emeric!"

Natalia clicked her tongue, "Have you found out anything about Emeric yet?"

Scarlett shrugged, "Why bother? Did you investigate Hamilton before you two got together?"

Natalia was left speechless.

She quickly changed the subject, "When do you start your residency?"

"End of this month."

"And what about you and Emeric?"

Scarlett winked, "I've got a dinner date with Emeric tonight. Who knows, maybe after dinner we might..."

She was interrupted as Elliott walked in.

"You have a dinner date with Emeric?"

Scarlett's smile vanished instantly.

"So what if I do?"

Elliott scoffed, "Do you know Emeric's always hitting the nightclubs?"

Scarlett's face was full of scorn, "As if you're any different."

Elliott was left speechless.

"I've cut back a lot recently."

"You can't teach an old dog new tricks!"

Scarlett rolled her eyes at him, then pulled Natalia towards her car.

"Come on, I'll drive you home."

Elliott hurried after them, "Where are you and Emeric having dinner?"

"None of your business!" Scarlett slammed the car door shut and drove off.

Natalia laughed, "You really don't like Elliott, do you?"

Scarlett grimaced, "If Hamilton wasn't good in bed, would you still like him?"

Natalia's face twitched.

Scarlett smiled at her, "Though I bet your man doesn't disappoint, considering how tired you look every day."

Natalia didn't continue the joke, instead, she cautioned, "Don't drink too much tonight, okay?"

Scarlett made a face, "I know, haven't I learned my lesson already?"

Natalia watched her, "If you do drink, call me before. I'll come pick you up."

Scarlett gave her a thumbs-up.

After doing so, she looked at Natalia, "So, you're just going to accept Hamilton's proposal without further scrutiny?"

Natalia smiled, her gaze falling on the ring on her finger.

"It's time to move forward; I don't want to dwell on the past anymore."

Scarlett nodded in agreement.

Hamilton's trip was a business emergency; he and Alden were dealing with an explosion at the Fowler Group's branch in Frendland, which resulted in several casualties.

At the airport, Hamilton, rubbing his temples, quietly instructed Alden.

"Make sure Natalia is well-protected and keep an eye on Grandfather's moves."

Alden nodded, then expressed his concern about the suspicious nature of the explosion, given their stringent safety measures.

Hamilton responded with a cold laugh, emphasizing the need to address the situation first and foremost.

After eating, she rested at home for a while before heading to the hospital.

Debby had accidentally hurt her back while turning Tatiana in bed.

When Natalia arrived, Debby was sitting in a chair, pale-faced.

Natalia quickly had Killian carry Debby down to the emergency room.

Back in the ward, she turned Tatiana over and gently massaged her.

After a moment of silence, she smiled.

"Mom, I have some good news. I'm getting married."

She chuckled, "To Hamilton."

Tears began to fall as she spoke.

"How wonderful it would be if you could wake up to see me get married."

Holding Tatiana's hand, tears streamed down her face.

Suddenly, a group of people barged into the room.

Natalia wiped her tears and stood up abruptly.

"Who are you?"

"Who?" The man in the lead sneered. "You know Graham Jenkins, right?"

Natalia's complexion turned pale instantly.

"He owed us half a million. Don't think his death erases that debt! Today, you either pay up, or we'll make sure this woman in the bed doesn’t see tomorrow!"

Natalia reached for her phone to call Killian, but before she could dial, the man snatched it from her hand.

With a signal from him, his group stormed into the room.

The medical equipment was smashed to bits in an instant.

"Stop!!" Natalia's face was as white as a sheet, knowing Tatiana's life depended on that equipment!

She tried to intervene but was pushed out of the way.

Then, she saw them pull Tatiana from the bed.

"Mom—"

Natalia's scream reverberated through the hallway, echoing with desperation and fear.
