Chapter 91
Dames sat in front of Felicity, practically bouncing with excitement. “Flick! You’re the best brother I could ever have! I used to dream about Dad taking me to a race, but I never thought it would actually happen!”
He pouted, then added, “You’re a million times cooler than that country bumpkin!”
Felicity couldn’t help but burst out laughing, her smile reaching all the way to her
eyes.
“Did you know your mom’s been getting roasted online?” she teased.
Dames quickly corrected her, “That woman isn’t my mom anymore.”
Felicity’s grin only widened.
Dames’s curiosity was piqued. “Why are people attacking her?”
“Selene cheated to win first place in the math competition prelims,” Felicity explained, pulling out her phone. “Now people online have found out her score was fake! With her abilities, there’s no way she could have gotten first.”
She scrolled through Twitter, intending to read Dames some of the nastier comments about Selene, but the top trending topic made her pause: “Selene’s Ex–Husband.”
She tapped on the hashtag, and as she scrolled through the comments, her smile faded.
One after another, the same influencers who had accused Selene of cheating were now posting apologies, admitting they’d been wrong about her.
Felicity searched for other popular comments about Selene. Half were gushing about her looks; the other half were expressing sympathy for her, blaming her “petty” ex–husband for all her trouble.
Felicity’s breath caught–her hand trembled as she gripped her phone.
“Flick?” Dames’s voice was timid. He’d never seen Felicity look so furious; her glare was so intense, it seemed like she might leap through the phone and start a fight.
Suddenly, Felicity snapped out of it and flashed a dazzling smile. “Tell me, Dames–do you think your mom is prettier, or am I?”
Dames froze for a second. Felicity’s expression soured immediately.
“Flick is the prettiest!” he blurted.
