Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 520

The next morning, Harrison sat in the dining room, his every movement at breakfast polished and effortless.

Nadine brought over a cup of coffee, and right away she noticed his good mood. It was such a rare thing these days that she almost couldn’t believe her eyes.

Ever since Selene and Harrison divorced, a heavy gloom had settled over the entire Vaughn family. When Harrison was away, things were tense enough, but the moment he returned, every member of the household staff felt as though the very air in Vaughn Manor turned oppressive, suffocating. Nadine had honestly considered quitting more than once, but today, seeing Harrison in surprisingly high spirits, she silently prayed it would last. If it didn’t, she wasn’t sure how much longer she could hang on.

Just then, Dames came downstairs. Nadine greeted him with extra warmth.

“Up early today, young master! I didn’t even have to wake you—getting more responsible every day,” she said with exaggerated praise.

Dames was notorious for being impossible to rouse in the morning, and when he did wake, he was cranky and difficult. Selene used to be the only one who could coax him out of bed and get him ready for the day. After she left, those duties fell to Nadine, and she’d suffered for it.

“You’ve already washed up?” she asked kindly. “Come have a seat. I’ll go grab your breakfast from the kitchen.”

As Nadine was about to leave the dining room, Dames suddenly asked, “Did anyone come into my room last night while I was sleeping?”

She blurted out, “Of course not, why would anyone do that?”

But then she remembered—she’d seen Harrison leaving Dames’s room late at night, well after the boy should have been asleep. Her eyes drifted involuntarily toward Harrison, who remained utterly composed, calmly eating his breakfast as if he hadn’t heard a word.

“Maybe you had a dream?” Nadine coaxed gently.

Dames took his seat at the table and looked straight at Harrison. “Mom’s shirt smells different now.”

Harrison didn’t respond.

Dames pressed on, “I want to check the hallway cameras. Maybe someone snuck in and swapped out Mom’s shirt while I was asleep.”

Harrison didn’t even look up. “Knock yourself out.”
