Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 483

The shock in Annalise Johnston’s eyes flickered for only a moment before she regained her composure, flashing Selene a smile. “Mr. Thompson racing me in a souped-up go-kart? That hardly seems fair.”

“Souped-up?” Selene frowned, puzzled by Annalise’s choice of words.

Adrian couldn’t help but laugh. “Nobody likes a sore loser, Annalise.”

A blush crept up Annalise’s cheeks; she knew Adrian’s barb was aimed squarely at her.

She straightened her back, her tone all business. “I’m just saying, Mr. Thompson’s kart may have been modified. It’s not exactly hard to tweak a go-kart for better performance.”

Adrian shot back, “I didn’t expect someone at QuanTech Innovations to be such a poor sport—throwing out accusations without proof.”

Simon stepped in on Annalise’s side. “We could just inspect Selene’s kart. That would settle whether Annalise’s suspicion has any merit.”

“No need,” Selene cut in coldly.

Simon’s eyes narrowed; a thin, icy smile played on his lips. “What’s wrong, Selene? Afraid of what we’ll find?”

Selene ignored him and addressed Annalise instead. “Switch karts with me. You take mine, I’ll take yours. We’ll race again. If you lose, you’ll be responsible for cleaning the entire track and every single go-kart here, and you’ll check them all for modifications. I want your report on my desk tomorrow.”

Annalise met her gaze, unflinching. “And if you lose?”

“I don’t intend to,” Selene replied coolly.

Simon interjected, “If Selene loses, I’ll make sure the whole company comes out to watch her scrub the track and clean every kart here.”

Adrian snorted, low and mocking. “The company sure keeps some loud dogs around.”

Simon’s face darkened, but he swallowed his anger, unwilling to pick a fight with Adrian.

Selene didn’t waste a word on them. She strode over and slid into the driver’s seat of Annalise’s kart.

Annalise fastened her helmet and climbed into Selene’s go-kart.

“Mr. Thompson, the second I start this thing, I’ll know if you’ve messed with it,” Annalise said.

Selene didn’t look at her, just replied, “Actually, I’d love to hear you repeat what you said to me earlier, Director Johnston.”
