Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 463

When Selene snapped back to reality, she realized Leo was gone—as was Annalise Johnston.

The relationship between Leo and Annalise was certainly curious, but since Leo wasn’t willing to explain, Selene figured it was a bit unethical to pry into the private affairs of her elders.

She joined the rest of the QuanTech Innovations staff to see off the City Hall officials.

Quentin wasted no time cozying up to her. “Selene, I have to ask—how did you end up running QuanTech Innovations?”

He continued eagerly, “I’ve been helping out at QuanTech lately. OmniCore Technologies and my lab have a joint project with your company.”

Selene just nodded, not interested in making small talk with Quentin.

He pressed on, determined to make it clear to everyone how well he knew her. “Let me introduce you to some of the team.”

He was being so attentive only to show off their acquaintance to the rest of the company.

“You know Mr. Waverly, right?” Quentin gestured toward a sharp-featured man.

Selene glanced at him and shook her head. “Not really.”

Simon Waverly let out a dismissive snort. “Well, I know quite a bit about you, Miss Thompson. Felicity talks about you all the time.”

“You and Felicity can analyze and interpret me all you want, but you’ll never know even a fraction of who I really am. Meanwhile, it’s painfully obvious what kind of person you are.”

Simon and Felicity were thick as thieves. Back when Felicity had a run-in with the police, Simon had loudly vowed to get revenge on her behalf.

But then he and Felicity got tangled up in something much messier than friendship, and with his own life in chaos, he’d had no time to settle scores with Selene.

Seeing her today, he looked at her like a sworn enemy.

With his hands stuffed in his pockets, Simon gave Selene a slow, contemptuous once-over. “Well, look at you. I suppose Professor Vaughn pulled a lot of strings to get you the top job at QuanTech, huh?”

Selene raised an eyebrow. “Why don’t you say that to Professor Vaughn’s face?”

Simon faltered for a split second.

She answered for him. “Or is it that you don’t dare?”

Simon pressed his lips together and glanced past Selene—he’d spotted Annalise Johnston returning.

“Annalise,” he called, striding over.

Annalise breezed right past Selene as if she didn’t exist, turning to Simon instead. “Let’s grab some lunch.”

Quentin piped up, “Selene, let me show you to the cafeteria.”

She waved him off. “I can find it myself.”

But Quentin stuck to her like glue, following her inside anyway.

By the time they arrived, Annalise had already blended in with a group of employees. Selene grabbed a plate of food and sat down at the long table.
