Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 362

Carmel and Selene led Daph down the stairs together.

“I just can’t figure it out,” Carmel said, glancing at Selene. “Does Harrison want to take Daph back just to regain custody, or is he regretting the divorce?”

Selene’s voice was calm. “Honestly, I don’t care what he wants. Ever since I left him—and the Vaughn family—every single day has felt like freedom.”

Carmel hesitated, worry creasing her brow. “I’m just afraid Harrison’s going to turn into a bad penny and keep coming after you.”

Selene frowned slightly. She’d considered that possibility too.

“Maybe you should try to get a restraining order,” Carmel suggested. “At least that would keep him away from you.”

Selene shook her head. “He’s never been violent with me. There’s no way the police would grant one. Besides, Harrison’s not the type to take limits well. The second you box him in, he’ll just push back twice as hard.”

She still felt a chill remembering the time Harrison had kidnapped her—her heart hadn’t truly settled since then.

“The way I see it,” Selene said, “it’s better to give him some space instead of trying to block him out completely. If he insists on showing up, let him. Just don’t expect me to make it easy for him.”

That night, as soon as they got home, Daph announced what she wanted to do for her talent show performance—an acrobatic act on stilts.

To show Selene what she meant, Daph put on a little acrobatic demo right there in the living room.

Selene’s mouth fell open in amazement, and Carmel’s eyes nearly popped out of her head. Any trace of sleepiness vanished as she burst into enthusiastic applause.

“Daph, that was incredible!” Carmel exclaimed. “Who taught you to do all these tricks?”
