Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 331

Many in the business world didn’t believe Adrian was the type to lavish money recklessly for a woman. The fact that he and Selene were making such a public display of their relationship meant, in their eyes, there had to be something more behind it.

Selene met Adrian’s gaze, catching her own reflection in his eyes.

She could hear her own heart pounding.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

Her chest vibrated with each beat, blood rushing so fiercely that she worried he might actually hear the frantic rhythm.

Instinctively, she shrank back, pressing her spine against the car window, trying to put as much distance as possible between them.

Adrian noticed her reaction. A fleeting look of disappointment flickered in his eyes, gone as quickly as it came.

“Sorry.”

He stepped back, giving her plenty of space.

Even though both of them knew their closeness was just a show for others, the body’s instinctive responses were impossible to fake.

A fine sheen of sweat broke out above Selene’s upper lip. “I’m fine…”

Adrian probably thought she was uncomfortable because he’d gotten too close. But the truth was, she was just worried that her wild, uncontrollable heartbeat might give her away.

His eyes lingered on her ears, which had turned bright red.

He quirked his lips and said quietly, “The elevator’s here.”

Selene seized the chance to escape. “I’ll go up first,” she blurted, almost stumbling out of the car.

She stepped into the elevator, glanced back, and saw Adrian still standing there, watching her.

Her throat seemed to pulse in time with her heart, the pounding echoing through her whole body.

When the elevator doors slid shut, relief washed over her. She let out a shaky breath and leaned heavily against the wall.

He answered, and a man’s teasing voice came through the speaker.

“I’ve got good news and bad news. Which do you want first?”

Adrian let out a cold, dismissive snort. “Bad news.”

“I found a backdoor virus on my office computer. Someone hacked in and stole the medical files from when you came in a few days ago.”

“And the good news?”

“The good news is, they only got the record about your last little… malfunction. The details about your actual surgery are still safe.”
