She pouted in protest but reluctantly slipped off her high heels and tossed them onto the floor.
“There. I took them off!”
Harrison’s lashes were dark and thick as he lowered his gaze to the red-soled stilettos now lying discarded.
“Throw them in the trash.”
Felicity stared at him in disbelief. “But I just bought these!”
His eyes, black as midnight, flashed with a warning, the way a wild animal might warn off a rival. “From now on, no one is to wear that style of high heels in front of me. Ever.”
“You don’t like these heels?” she murmured, her voice small. “Is it because Selene wore them once?”
Inside, Felicity wanted to scream. How did she manage to step right onto Harrison’s landmine?
She must have been too absorbed watching that clip of Harrison. She’d gotten the absurd idea that he actually liked being stepped on by Selene in her heels.
But thinking about it, there was no way. Harrison would never be into someone as tacky as Selene.
If anything, he probably found it disgusting, being stepped on by her.
Her tone softened, almost pleading. “You want me to toss my shoes, fine. But what am I supposed to wear home, Harrison? You can’t seriously expect your old man to go barefoot, can you?!”
Harrison turned to someone standing nearby. “Go find her a pair of slippers.”
Felicity protested loudly, “You’re giving me slippers?! You made me throw out my shoes—at least buy me a new pair!”
The other rich boys in the lounge cracked up, teasing her. “With feet that big, Flick, you’re made for flip-flops! Someone grab her a pair!”
“Seriously though, seeing Felicity in heels is just…wrong. Hilarious, but wrong!”
Face burning, Felicity lunged toward Harrison. “Come on! You’re taking your dear old dad shoe shopping!”
He shoved her off without hesitation, and she tumbled back onto the couch, limbs sprawling awkwardly.
She gaped at him in shock from where she’d landed.
“Harrison, what the hell?!”
She met his stormy gaze and felt herself freeze.
He turned away, tossing a final warning over his shoulder. “And stop using Natalie to guilt me. Dames is still in the hospital. Even if Natalie were alive, I’d never forgive you for what you did to Dames.”
Felicity bit her lip, watching helplessly as Harrison walked away.

Harrison slid into the backseat of his car and spoke to the driver. “Global Financial Plaza.”
Fifteen minutes later, he was stepping into a gleaming designer boutique, immediately swarmed by attentive staff.
“Good evening, sir. Is there anything you’d like to see?”
Harrison stopped at the counter, his eyes fixed on a pair of high heels—the same style Selene had worn.
“I’ll take those. Wrap them up.”
The sales assistant smiled. “Of course, sir. What size should I prepare?”
Harrison hesitated, caught off-guard. He had no idea what size Selene wore.
