Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 304

Daph looked up, locking eyes with Gemma in a standoff that felt almost comical—one glaring, the other confused.

“What are you staring at?” Daph asked, frowning in bewilderment.

Gemma, as if facing a sworn enemy, snapped, “What are you doing here?!”

Word had gotten to the old lady that Altair had brought his bodyguards to visit Dames at the hospital again. The matriarch, always suspicious, rushed over in a frenzy, terrified that Altair might do something to hurt Dames.

The moment she saw Daph in the hallway, her anger flared. In the past, she’d never paid much attention to Altair. Though he was Leo’s adopted son, that was all he was—an adopted child. The Vaughn family heir had always been Harrison.

But now, with Dames in the hospital and Altair suddenly receiving “future heir” tutoring, the old lady had barely slept a wink. Every night, she imagined disaster lurking around every corner.

Seeing her “disloyal” granddaughter again, the old woman’s eyes blazed. She looked at Daph as though the five-year-old had personally stolen a fortune from her.

Daph spoke up, her voice clear and firm. “Dames hasn’t been to school for days. All the kids know about the accident and are worried about him. I’m here on behalf of the whole class to wish him well.”

Gemma scoffed, her lips curling wickedly. “Don’t play innocent. You’re up to no good—like a fox in the henhouse!”

Daph’s temper flared. “Well, ‘Granny Hen,’ you’re blocking my way!”

It was as if sparks leapt from the old woman’s clothes; she was practically buzzing with anger.

“You dare talk to me like that? Didn’t your mother teach you any manners, you little brat?”

But Daph stood her ground. She’d spent her childhood forced to bow her head under this roof, but she wasn’t about to be bullied anymore.

“If Dames is your little chick, then you’re the mother hen, aren’t you?” Daph shot back.

“Grandma, you’re so noisy!” Dames suddenly complained from his hospital bed, his voice tinged with irritation.

The old lady’s heart softened for her grandson, and she swept into the room, fixing Daph with a glare that could have melted steel—as if the little girl owed her millions.

“Get out. Now!”

Daph and Altair stuck out their tongues at her in unison, pulling faces behind her back.

Fuming, Gemma turned to a nurse. “Did those two do anything to my grandson?”

The nurse, eager to bring good news, replied, “The little girl fed Master Vaughn some soup. It’s the first time he’s eaten so much since he was admitted.” She smiled, genuinely relieved. “We’ve been so worried about his appetite, and today he finally ate well.”

Gemma’s eyes widened in horror, as if Daph had just confessed to a crime. “How could you feed my grandson something that woman cooked?!”

Daph just shrugged. “Dames loves it. He always eats more when it’s mom’s soup.”

Gemma tried to push past Altair’s guards, but there was no getting through.

She turned on the guards, shrieking, “Aren’t you supposed to protect Leo’s family? Bring that little brat here right now!”

One of the men responded coolly, “We take orders only from Master Altair. Please watch your words, Mrs. Vaughn.”

Gemma was left fuming, powerless, as she watched Daph and Altair disappear into the elevator.

She hurried back to the hospital room, scooping Dames into her arms and flipping him over so he lay face down.

“Quick! Help me—he needs to throw up! He’s eaten something filthy!”

She started thumping Dames on the back, desperate and panicked. Dames let out a pained gag, then began to cry, wailing helplessly as his grandmother’s frantic hands pounded on his back.
