Harrison asked, “Did he say anything?”
“Mr. Shaw said he was putting on a face mask. And, unlike Mr. Vaughn, who has no idea how to take care of himself…”
The assistant started reading off Adrian’s message, but quickly realized the second half probably shouldn’t be shared with Harrison.
Harrison was already grinding his molars, his jaw clenched so tightly that the muscles along his chin stood out in sharp relief.
He scoffed, irritated. “Text him back—he’s nothing but a lapdog!”
Harrison had blocked Adrian on WhatsApp, and Adrian had done the same. Now, the two of them hurled insults at each other through their subordinates, using them as unwilling go-betweens.
The assistant glanced at the next message from Adrian and reluctantly read it aloud, “Mr. Shaw says, ‘Heh, at least I have an owner. I’d love it if Selene put a collar on me—maybe even a leash…’”
Hearing that, the assistant shuddered. Mr. Shaw was unbelievably shameless!
Disgusted, Harrison snapped, “Pathetic. Servile and depraved!”

After saying goodbye to Gwyneth, Selene had just stepped out of the heated pool when her phone rang.
She answered the unfamiliar number, only to hear Harrison’s voice on the other end.
“We should meet. Talk things over.”
Selene laughed, a cold, amused sound. “You certainly have a vivid imagination, don’t you?”
She hung up without another word.
Harrison stared at his phone, listening to the dead line. The depth in his eyes was suddenly clouded, all light snuffed out.
Leo, knowing her past, understood how much she’d longed for the things she could never have as a child—how that yearning had shaped her entire life.
For a moment, his usually clear, perceptive gaze dimmed.
After a pause, he nodded. “Alright. Whatever you want, Selene, I’ll do my best to give it to you.”
It was only after she married that Selene realized the family she’d longed for was nothing more than a fragile illusion—beautiful but doomed to shatter at the lightest touch.

“Selene!” A large hand grabbed her arm, squeezing so tightly it hurt.
She spun around, and without thinking, swung her handbag straight at the man’s face.
