Dumping The Ice King His Mini-Tyrant novel Chapter 274

Selene’s eyes shimmered with unshed tears. She drew a shaky breath, gripped Daph’s hand, and walked resolutely inside.

Behind her, Damien’s desperate cry cut through the air. “Mom! Even if you and Dad get divorced, I can still stay with you! Mom, why don’t you want me?!”

Selene’s steps faltered, as if invisible wires wrapped around her ankles, biting into her flesh with every movement.

She forced herself to inhale, but each breath felt like it was tearing her apart, scraping its way through a narrow tunnel lined with thorns rather than her lungs.

“Damien, have you forgotten? You’re the one who didn’t want me.”

Damien’s little body trembled.

Suddenly, all the things he’d done to Selene came flooding back, clouding his vision with guilt and regret.

*“The food you cook is garbage!”*

*“You never let me eat what I want. You’re just a control freak!”*

*“Bad mom! You’re so fake and dramatic!”*

*“You stay home all day and do nothing. If you want to leave Dad, then just get out! Go on, get out!”*

He used to shout at her with reckless abandon, watching for her hurt expression as if it were some kind of victory.

He remembered the redness in Selene’s eyes, the tears she shed. He’d run off to call Felicity, gloating.

Damien’s eyes filled with tears. “Mom, can’t we just go back to how things were? I really, really need you.”

Every time he’d thrown a tantrum before, Selene would have dropped everything to pick him up and hold him close. She’d always been there, always put him first, simply because she was his mother.

Damien wished with all his heart that things could go back to the way they were.

Selene turned to look at her son in the wheelchair. Her gaze was clear and resolute, all softness gone.

“Don’t wait until you need me the most to remember I exist.”

Nadine slapped her thigh in exasperation. “Oh, Miss Thompson, he’s just a child! Children need their mothers—it’s in their nature!”
