Lucas was working with the most reliable investigators available. If he uncovered something, it was almost certainly true.
The thought made Aurora feel ridiculous. Why had she even asked that question? What expectations had she been holding onto for Tessa?
Lucas’ mood was complicated as well.
“If you can bring yourself to ask that, it means you already know the answer deep down.”
Aurora didn’t know how to respond.
“You’re right. I already know. So why am I still trying to make excuses for her?”
“That’s not what I meant,” Lucas said carefully. “I just think you shouldn’t keep covering for her. She needs to face what she’s done.”
Hearing that, Aurora immediately realized where her problem was.
“I get it. Thank you.”
The clarity hit her like cold water—sudden and undeniable.
She could finally see what she’d been struggling with. She had been giving Tessa far too much benefit of the doubt.
But the truth was, Tessa had never been the person Aurora wanted to believe she was.
If that was the case, then she needed to take these findings and show them to Grace—let her see exactly how deceitful Tessa really was.
She would put every piece of evidence in front of her mother and tear off Tessa’s mask.
“Go ahead and investigate. Just update me whenever there’s news.”
Aurora was mentally prepared now. No matter what happened, she would expose Tessa for what she truly was.
“Alright. I’ll tell you everything I find without holding back.”
Through this call, Lucas finally understood what Aurora truly needed: an answer.
No lies and omissions—she wanted the truth, and she had every right to know it.
So now, Lucas had no intention of keeping anything from her.
