Hearing that, Aurora raised an eyebrow, clearly surprised.
“I didn’t expect to hear that from you.”
Yvonne’s fists tightened at her sides. She knew her actions hadn’t exactly been honorable, but she had no other choice.
If she wanted Lucas’ help, this was the only way.
She couldn’t let her studio collapse.
“I know I shouldn’t have let my fans behave that way. So, I’ll take responsibility for what they did.”
Aurora studied her closely, her gaze steady and unblinking.
Was she being sincere, or was this just another act?
But as Aurora met her eyes, she saw nothing but genuine resolve—no trace of mockery and hint of deceit.
That startled her a little.
Had she actually misjudged Yvonne this time?
Noticing Aurora’s lingering stare, Yvonne frowned slightly.
“What’s wrong? Why are you looking at me like that?”
Before Aurora could answer, she went on, half bitter, half defensive.
“I know that you don’t believe me. That’s why you’re looking at me like this. Honestly, I can understand it. Someone like me, with my reputation… how could you possibly trust me?”
Aurora let out a small, knowing smile.
“Since you already understand that, you must also realize how this looks. You showing up to apologize is like a wolf showing up at a sheep’s pen with flowers—you clearly have something else in mind.”
“No one said I had to.”
Aurora’s voice was calm, almost detached. “You do realize that, don’t you? An apology doesn’t come with a guarantee of forgiveness. Who decided that was the rule?
“If it worked that way, there’d be no need for consequences—anyone could do whatever they pleased and just say ‘sorry’ to wipe the slate clean.”
“I…” Yvonne faltered, her expression tightening as Aurora’s words hit one after another.
She hadn’t expected Aurora to be so blunt, so unwilling to offer even a sliver of grace.
She’d thought Aurora might at least spare her some dignity out of consideration for Lucas.
But clearly, Aurora didn’t care for that kind of courtesy. She didn’t care about her at all.
“I came to you in good faith,” Yvonne said sharply, her composure cracking. “Can’t you think about how Lucas would feel if he knew you were treating me this way?”
