And since the gossip had already been brought to Aurora, Yvonne wasn’t worried.
She knew Aurora wouldn’t announce her marriage at a time like this.
Yvonne spoke with feigned gentleness, “Don’t get too worked up, Don. Maybe Aurora was just trying to look out for you.”
“I was honestly congratulating you,” Don shot back, glaring at Aurora. “But she immediately talked me down, pretending to be all kind and righteous.”
He sneered. “She’s the type who doesn’t know how to appreciate goodwill. Next time something happens, don’t bother calling someone like her. No point helping someone who doesn’t mean well. She can deal with her own problems.”
Aurora pressed her fingers to her temple, feeling a headache coming on.
Even Megan couldn’t stay quiet anymore.
She stepped in front of Aurora and snapped, “Are you serious? We were minding our own business, and you just barged in spewing nonsense. Do you really need us to care that much about your gossip?
“You could’ve kept it to yourself. What, do you think spreading it makes you look impressive?”
Her words instantly lit a fuse.
“So that’s it, you’re Aurora’s little lapdog. She tells you to bark, and you bark, huh?”
At that, even Aurora couldn’t stay seated any longer. Her eyes turned cold as she rose to her feet, closing the distance between them step by step.
“Just like my friend said, we were sitting here quietly. You were the one who came over, running your mouth with ridiculous stories.”
