Chapter 53 

Edwin’s mind was somewhere else, so he didn’t catch Sharon’s name. 

Nina recalled how Sharon was deeply devoted to Edwin. Sharon even offered her own commeas to help him see again because she feared his family wouldn’t accept him if he remained blind. 

Nina noticed Edwin’s lack of response to the story and decided not to say anything more, leaving Edwin in place alone with his thoughts. 

Sharon didn’t have any plans after leaving the hospital, so she swung by her old house and tidied up a bit. It held too many memories for her to let it fall into disrepair as it was built by her parents‘ own hands. 

The neglected state of the house saddened Shuren. Mold and peeling wallpaper showed it hadn’t been cared for. She planned to hire a construction team for a quick renovation. After cleaning inside, an hour passed. 

As Sharon carried the garbage out, she noticed a long shadow ahead, cast by a beautiful woman. Squinting, she recognized the face, yet it seemed different somehow. 

Running into someone she didn’t want to see three times in one day felt like a weird coincidence to Sharon 

Tilda stood at a distance, observing her. 

After the cleaning, Sharon wasn’t as glamorous as Tilda. Her hair was a bit messy, and she had a touch of sweat on her forehead. Yet, her eyes still shone bright like stars. 

Tilda, displeased, looked away. She couldn’t resist standing tall and proud, making herself seem taller than Sharon by a few inches 

Sharon had no desire to see her, so she didn’t bother with greetings and simply walked away,

Sharon stopped in her tracks and looked at Tilda. “Ms. Gill, are you out of your mind? Why would I leave my daughter in your care?” 

Instead of getting angry at Sharon’s blunt words. Tilda suggested Sharon send Irene back to the Stanley family for a better life and focus on finding happiness with a stable guy, instead of clinging to her ex 

Sharon caught onto Tilda’s implication. “Are you suggesting that I insisted on taking Irene back because I still had feelings for Edwin?” 

“Isn’t it though” Tilda’s smile was sweet, but her eyes held a sharp challenge as she spoke, “Ms. Cress, you meddled in Edwin’s and my relationship, separating us for four years. Yet here I am, offering you a chance at happiness. Id call that pretty generous of me 

Tilda’s shameless words finally struck a nerve with Sharon. She had held back a lot, but now it seemed there was no point in holding back any longer. 

Sharon chuckled lightly. “Ms. Gill, you sound so aggrieved that one might mistake you for the victim. Are you sure I meddled in your relationship?” 

“I didn’t say anything wrong, did 1 Tilda didn’t even see Sharon as a match, “Honestly, there wasn’t much between me and that guy, Everything could’ve been cleared up, but your meddling made it all awkward. I had to let go and give Edwin to you” 

Tilda smirked, her eyes glinting. “I didn’t spill the beans to Edwin till a year later, taking your emotions into account” 

“A year later?” Sharon’s demeanor shifted abruptly, signaling her distress. She tightly balled her fists within her sleeves. 

During these four years, Edwin kept his distance from Sharon, showing linte interest. About a year after they got married, shortly after Irene was born, he occasionally came to see his daughter. 

Then one day, he told her he would go on a business trip and would reconsider their relationship when be returned. Believing Edwin’s increasing warmth toward her signaled a positive change, Sharon eagerly awaited his return, hopeful that he had finally accepted her. 

But Sharon was taken aback by Edwin’s sudden coldness upon his return. It seemed he had allowed his friends and family to mistreat her from that momention. She wondered if Edwin had heard similar words from Tilda during their encounter on the trip. 

Sharon chuckled bitterly, her hidden anger undeniable, She saw through Tilda’s intentions–to make her miserable. Despite trying to move on after the four–year marriage, since Tilda wouldn’t relent, neither would she. 

Sharon shot back, “Ms. Gill, when the reporters asked you about cheating, you stayed silent for five minutes. Wasn’t that enough time for you to explain‘ Edwin was there. He would have listened. 

Tilda narrowed her eyes. Sharon’s words hit home, shutting down every objection she had.

Tilda froze, her face flushing with anger as her confidence crumbled 

Tilda couldn’t wrap her head around the sudden reversal of roles, from victim to beneficiary, caused by Sharon’s intervention. 

“By the way, you claim there was nothing between you and that guy, but you both stripped naked. Do you really expect me to believe you are innocent?” Sharon continued, her gaze shifting to another figure nearby.

Sharon smirked knowingly, intending to air out certain truths. 

She didn’t hold back, confronting Tilda directly. “Edwin trusted you, but others saw through it. And let’s be honest, didn’t you stay silent deliberately? You thought Edwin cared for you so much that even if you were caught red–handed, he wouldn’t abandon you. You were waiting for him to speak up, to indulge your whims. Isn’t that being too selfish?” 

Tilda was shocked at Sharon’s accuracy in reading her thoughts from back then. 

Tilda, after a moment’s pause, finally found her rebuttal. She wasn’t about to ler Sharon walk all over her 

Tilda nodded confidently, unfazed. “Exactly! So what if I’m a bit reckless? Edwin’s love for me is undeniable. My plan all along was for the entire city to see how much he adores me. No matter what I do, he’ll always paper me, never let me go! 

Sharon’s anger flared. “You’re shameless,” she cursed furiously. Hearing Tilda admit her audacity only fueled Sharon’s indignation. If she hadn’t divorced Edwin yet, she would probably slap Tikla a few times. 

Sharon said. “Have you ever considered the consequences? What about the reputation of Edwin, the Stanley Family, and even Genesis Group? All of them will have to pay the price for your recklessness.” 

“So what Tilda lifted her chin defiantly. “Who carest Edwin loves me and is willing to sacrifice everything for me.”
