Nicole's body stiffened slightly. Samuel acutely sensed it though it disappeared in a flash.
"What's the matter?"
"Nothing."
Nicole smiled faintly and then let go of Samuel with her expression remaining the same.
Although Samuel was puzzled, he did not pursue it.
"Are you hungry? Let's go out and eat something."
Samuel wanted to hug Nicole, but she dodged.
"I'm not hungry, but a little sleepy. I want to sleep."
After saying that, she left Samuel and walked to the room.
Samuel was bewildered.
"What's the matter?"
"I'm just sleepy."
Nicole did not say anything else. It was not because she did not believe in Samuel, but because the scent of the perfume from him made her feel uncomfortable.
Samuel observed that Nicole was in a bad mood. He asked her but didn't get anything, so he followed Nicole into the room and saw Nicole had already taken off her clothes and lied down with her back to him.
He knitted his brows slightly and went to the bathroom without saying anything.
When taking a shower, he saw a bright lipstick mark on the collar of his shirt, and he frowned immediately.
It occurred to him that Nicole's behavior might have something to do with the mark.
Could it be because of this?
Samuel groped in his memory and thought it might be done by the woman in the club.
A trace of coldness flashed through his eyes.
He walked out and called the manager of the club. Back in the bedroom, Nicole still remained the same posture
"Get me the contact information and address of the woman who recently sold drinks in Room 3087. She should compensate me because she dirtied my shirt, plus this made my wife uncomfortable. I will take legal approaches for all my loss."
As Samuel hung up the phone, he saw her slightly move under the quilt.
The shower gel diluted the fragrance of perfume, bathing him in freshness.
Nicole subconsciously curled up, but Samuel immediately leaned to her.
"Why didn't you tell me you were uncomfortable? I didn't know the mark got on my shirt. It was by a salesgirl who wanted to kiss me, but I dodged. Don't think too much about it."
He said with the gentlest voice in the world.
"Alright."
She replied sullenly, not in the mood to talk to him.
A passage she saw not long ago jumped into her mind. It is said that men are the most likely to cheat on women when they are pregnant. Did it mean that Samuel would cheat on her as well?
These days Nicole had repeatedly refused intimacy with him. Thinking of this, she became disturbed.
Feeling that Nicole was still unhappy, he sighed, "Trust me, I won't betray you, OK?"
"I see. Just go to sleep. I'm really sleepy."
Then he heard her breathing evenly, an indication of her falling asleep. How could she fall asleep so soon?
Nicole fell into sleep, but Samuel couldn't.
Looking at this sleeping girl, he habitually pulled the quilt to cover her. After that, he increased the temperature of the air conditioner, and then he took the cigarette and went outside.
Nicole was pretending to be asleep. She noticed he seemed to have something on his mind. Then her mind turned again to the perfume and his explanation. She thought all these happened coincidentally.
She knew clearly what kind of person Samuel was. If he intends to keep his distance from others, even flies wouldn't come close to him, not to mention a woman. That woman came into the private room and even tried to kiss him. Could it be possible for a man like him to allow this to happen?
Nicole smiled bitterly.
Once a man started lying to you, what came next might be cheating on you.
Never had she thought that she and Samuel would go through such things.
They had gone through tons of ups and downs, but it turned out that Samuel would eventually cheat on her. Was it true that within the besieged walls of marriage, men just couldn't help themselves and make mistakes?
A simple thought of this possibility could suffocate her. She thought she couldn't breathe.
Samuel was smoking outside, one after another. Nicole felt restless when she saw that.
She wanted to sleep fast without thinking about anything, but the harder she tried, the harder it was for her to fall asleep.
After staying outside for more than an hour, he came back with the smell of the cigarette.
He glanced at Nichole from a distance, not coming toward her. Thinking she might be in deep sleep, he tiptoed to the bathroom and took a shower.
Nicole squinted at his figure through the bathroom, being trapped in the pit of despair.
Suddenly, Samuel's phone screen lighted up.
Nicole raised her eyes and glimpsed at it. The message looked like a hotel address.
Her heart skipped a beat.
Could it be from that woman?
Nicole did not dare to move in case Samuel would discover that she was still awake.
Not long after, Samuel came out of the bathroom.
He glanced at his phone, frowned slightly, and then looked at Nicole, who seemed to be sleeping soundly, but Samuel still called her tentatively.
"Nicole?"
Nicole didn't move.
After a while, he turned around and changed his clothes to go out.
As she heard the door closed, she opened her eyes, which were filled with tears.
Would things go as she had guessed?
"I don't know who he's with."
Olivia was dumbfounded when she heard Nicole's whining.
"Nicole, you look like a grumbling woman? What happened?"
"Nothing, is Booth alright?"
Nicole tried her best to cheer herself up and then smiled faintly, but that smile was awful.
"Booth is fine, but I think you're not. What's wrong?"
Bombarded with Olivia's questions, Nicole stammered, "I suspect that Samuel is having an affair."
"Are you joking?"
Olivia thought that Nicole was talking nonsense.
She knew Samuel's feelings for Nicole. Anyone in this world could cheat on her. Only Samuel did not believe it. But now that she saw Nicole's uncomfortable expression, Olivia not only took a deep breath and said, "Could it be a mistake? Why do you think Samuel cheated on her?"
"I'm just guessing."
Nicole shook her head and said, "Just leave me alone. I felt uncomfortable, but I won't pity myself. I'll investigate later. If it is true, I'll get a divorce. I won't share a husband with another woman."
"What about the unborn child? Are you going to raise your child by yourself like Lucas and Zoe?"
Olivia's words just hit the point.
Nicole her stomach, feeling a little bitter, but says firmly, "I'll consider abortion."
"Nicole, I'll investigate it for you. What do you think?"
"No, thanks. I can handle my own stuff. I just can't accept it temporarily. Alright, forget about me. I'm glad Booth's surgery was a success. Since you're here, what about going to meet Bahman after lunch?"
Nicole changed the topic and talked about work.
Olivia could tell that she didn't want to talk too much. She nodded, "Alright, I'll go back to my place to dress up. Let's have lunch together, and then we'll make an appointment. Maybe I have that potential and it will put me on the fast track. The thing is, don't leave me alone if I really make it."
"What are you saying? How could I leave you alone? By the way, I should speed up with the filmmaking company stuff.
Nicole hesitated for a moment before calling Laurence to ask him to see how much her personal property was."
Laurence didn't know why Nicole asked that, but he still checked it and told her.
"Mrs. Green, by your personal property, do you mean the property under your name or..."
"Exclude the properties the Green family had passed to me."
Hearing her words, Laurence whispered, "Less than two million."
"I see."
Nicole hung up the phone, feeling worried.
"Less than two million." Initiating a filmmaking company was going to need some liquidity more than that.
What should she do?
She didn't want to use his money at all.
