Samuel was afraid of disturbing Nicole, so he hurriedly got up and walked out.
As soon as he went downstairs, Samuel saw Zac and Petty coming down as well. It seemed that they also wanted to go out and see who it was.
Samuel whispered, "You can go back and rest. I'll just go out and take a look."
"Samuel, it's better for me to do that."
"No, I will go. It should be Jacob."
Hearing Samuel's words, Petty pulled Zac into the room.
Jacob, as Samuel's special assistant, had worked for Samuel for many years. There shouldn't be any problems.
Seeing Petty and Zac go back, Samuel stood up and walked out.
Outside the door, it was indeed Jacob, but his condition wasn't very good.
"What's the matter?"
Samuel rarely saw that Jacob was as upset as he was now, not even when Olivia wanted to break with him.
Jacob loosened his tie, seemingly a little bit uncomfortable.
"It's fine. I'm just a little bored. I come over and want to have a drink with you."
His bloodshot eyes showed that he hadn't had a good sleep recently.
Samuel frowned slightly and whispered, "You didn't drink before."
"I just suddenly want to have a drink. I don't have any friends, so I want to ask you to drink with me. If you're busy, forget it. I'll go to the bar myself."
"Come with me to the cellar. My wine is much better than the wine in the bar."
Samuel patted Jacob on the shoulder.
Jacob nodded.
The two of them went to the cellar. For fear that Nicole could not find him when she got up, Samuel told the servant where he went.
Once they arrived at the cellar, Jacob picked up one bottle wine and just drank it.
Samuel did not feel pity for his wine and allowed Jacob to do whatever he wanted.
Jacob was not a man who would do things without consideration. In fact, for so many years, Jacob had always been strict with himself and even scrupulously abided by his duty, without overstepping. Even though Samuel said that they were brothers, Jacob still couldn't relax. In Jacob's heart, Samuel was his benefactor and boss. Although Samuel was also a friend, he still felt inferior in front of Samuel.
But now, Jacob was like a child who had been stimulated and had forgotten all these things, which rarely happened. Now that it had happened, there must be something happened that Jacob couldn't bear.
Jacob had developed his business quite well under the support of Samuel these years. Even if he left the Green family, he was still a person that many people in the upper class looked up to. Now, his depression was most likely related to Olivia.
However, since Jacob didn't want to say anything, Samuel didn't ask. He would talk about it when Jacob needed him.
Only taking a bottle of red wine, Samuel took a sip. He didn't drink much, but Jacob drank too fast as if it was water. Jacob finished one bottle of wine by only a few gulps.
In this way, he would probably be drunk in a while.
Samuel picked up the phone and asked the servant to prepare a room for him.
Sure enough, Jacob got drunk in half an hour.
He didn't vomit or rave. After getting drunk, he fell asleep. Apart from his red face and the smell of alcohol, no other signs could tell that he was drunk.
Samuel carried him into the guest room on his own and instructed servants to take care of him before returning to the bedroom.
Nicole had already woken up. She was working on her computer and revising the draft. When she saw Samuel coming in, she smelled alcohol.
"You drank too?"
"Yes, I drank a little."
Samuel knew about Nicole's situation and smiled, "I'm going to take a shower."
"Alright."
Nicole felt that she was a bit pretentious and couldn't smell any irritating smell when she got pregnant this time.
While Samuel was taking a shower, Nicole felt empty in mind.
That Jacob came to drink with Samuel was really unexpected, and even somewhat inconceivable.
What exactly happened?
Could it be related to Olivia?
She wanted to call Olivia, but she gave up.
Everyone had his or her own way of life and privacy. Olivia didn't say anything, so she didn't ask. Nicole believed that if Olivia could solve it herself, she would definitely solve it by herself.
Nicole felt apprehensive and her eyes were full of worries.
When Samuel came out, he saw Nicole's worried appearance and couldn't help but hug her from behind.
"Worried about Olivia?"
"Yes, aren't you worried about Jacob?"
Nicole did not deny it and leaned against the warm chest behind her.
Samuel immediately went up to bed and held her in his arms. He whispered, "They are both adults. No matter what happens, they can solve it by themselves. Jacob is not a reckless man. Even if he hurts himself, he won't hurt Olivia. Don't worry about that."
"I know, so I didn't ask, nor did I interfere. I just feel strange. Didn't Harper come back? Logically, there shouldn't be any problems between Olivia and Jacob."
"Yes, but Olivia's father is not in a good condition."
Samuel originally wanted to hide it from Nicole, but now he wouldn't want to get Nicole worried.
"What do you mean?"
Nicole had always wanted to visit the Kent family, but she didn't expect to hear that.
"I like it that you make it a point to keep on going."
Samuel touched Nicole's head with a gentle smile.
Nicole simply fell into his arms and whispered, "A man must have a dream in his life. No matter how hard and tiring life is, don't give up. Otherwise, is there any difference between a man and a livestock?"
"You can rest assured and be my wife. The property of the Green family is enough for you to live a decent life for two lifetimes."
"The property of the Green family is yours, not mine. I'm so young now. If I just idle the days away, the precious life that the heavens have given me will be wasted!"
Samuel quite agreed with Nicole's words and smiled.
"No matter what you do, I will support you. However, you must bear one thing in mind that you should take good care of yourself and don't be too tired. This is the only request I have for you."
"Okay."
Nicole felt warm in her heart.
After experiencing so many things together, even if there was no sweet talk, there would still be spontaneous love arising from their hearts.
"Go to sleep. Tomorrow will be a busy day."
"Yes."
Nicole fell asleep in Samuel's arms.
As soon as the sky lit up, Samuel woke up.
Seeing that Nicole sleeping soundly, he couldn't bear to disturb her. He gently pulled out his arms and covered her with the blanket before heading to the kitchen.
Not long after Lillian got up, she was about to cook breakfast when she saw Samuel coming down.
"Why are you up so early?"
"Make some food for Nicole."
Samuel smiled.
Lillian was slightly stunned and hurriedly said, "I'll do it. How can you cook in the kitchen?"
However, Samuel smiled, "It's a pleasure to cook for your beloved. Lillian, don't deprive me of this pleasure. Besides, you are new here and don't know what Nicole likes very well. Let me do it."
As he spoke, he rolled up his sleeves and entered the kitchen.
Seeing Samuel's skilled gestures, Lillian was stunned, and even shocked.
She never knew that a man would do such a thing for a woman. Now that she recalled her life, she suddenly felt that her life was in vain.
However, Samuel ignored Lillian's thoughts and carefully prepared Nicole's meal before leaving the kitchen.
Lillian wanted to say something to him, but his phone rang.
After he saw the caller ID on his phone, Samuel's expression changed slightly. Then, he quickly walked out of the Green's without even having time to wear his coat.
