"Alright, I'll go back and make some preparations. We can't do this alone."
Samuel knew that Nicole was eager to find her second uncle, but what just happened should have alerted Aaron. He didn't know if he would make another move immediately.
Now it depended on who reacted faster.
Nicole nodded.
After returning, Samuel brought a small group of people and Nicole up the mountain overnight.
The back mountain was very big, and it was connected to the surrounding mountains. Nicole and Samuel did not know where her second uncle was, so they could only search the mountains one by one.
As soon as Jarrod went back, someone whipped towards him. He didn't even dodge and directly took the whipping.
The whip was barbed.
After Jarrod was whipped, his skin and flesh were immediately torn apart. The smell of blood filled the room, but he didn't even blink.
"Bastard! You've forgotten who raised you, haven't you?"
The lights in the room immediately lit up.
There was a man in his fifties sitting in the middle of the house, and there was a woman sitting beside him. The woman looked at Jarrod with a seductive expression. She smiled and stroked Aaron's chest. She smiled and said, "Aaron, why are you so angry? No matter what, Jarrod and he are brothers. It seems impossible for him not to contact Samuel."
"Shut up! You have no right to speak here!"
Jarrod's gaze was like sharp swords, flying towards the woman. Those cold eyes scared her.
The woman involuntarily trembled. Then, she thought of Aaron beside her and hurriedly said in grievance, "Aaron, look at your son. What is his attitude towards me?"
"Alright, shut up. I'm talking to my son. Don't interrupt."
Aaron frowned slightly and was somewhat dissatisfied with the woman's noisy voice.
This time, the woman did not dare to speak at all.
Jarrod looked at Aaron. He was still bleeding, but as if it didn't hurt at all, he said coldly, "Father, can you let him go? He doesn't know anything now."
"He doesn't know? Why did he come to the Harper Town? Do you really think he brought his wife and children here for a trip? Jarrod, don't forget whose son you are! Go kneel in the ancestral hall. You are not allowed to treat your wound, eat, or drink water without my permission. Think about what you should and shouldn't do. You may think that I won't kill you because you're my son. But if you ruin my plan like this again, I don't mind trapping you at the foot of the mountain so that you'll never see the sunshine again."
Aaron's expression was extremely vicious, as if the person in front of him wasn't his son, but a stranger.
Jarrod's heart was in pain. He thought of Vincent who always smiled heartlessly but had his own beliefs.
He still remembered how happy and warm Vincent was when he talked about Samuel. He had never seen such warmth on his father's face.
If he hadn't done the paternity test behind Aaron's back, he would have doubted whether he was Aaron's biological son.
Ever since he was young, Aaron had treated him very harshly, so harsh that a few times, he almost couldn't hold on.
At that time, he wanted to have a mother by his side. He would be satisfied even if it was just a hug, but he couldn't have that. He envied that Samuel could grow up with Vincent. Even if there was any pain, they would share it with each other. But Jarrod had always been alone.
Jarrod turned around coldly and went straight to the ancestral hall without saying anything.
The ancestral hall here was somewhat different. There was only one person's tablet, and that was Alice's.
Looking at his mother's tablet, Jarrod suddenly felt sad.
He knelt on the ground. The wounds on his body were burning with pain, and fresh blood was also flowing. However, Aaron seemed to not see, and Jarrod did not care.
He only looked at the tablet, his eyes slightly moist.
"Mom, Dad said that you wanted me to grow up healthy when you gave birth to me, but now that you're gone, Dad seems to have changed. These years, he has become even more indulgent. There were different women around him, and he seemed to have forgotten about you, but every time I do something wrong, he still punishes me to kneel in front of you. Isn't that ridiculous?"
Jarrod said with mockery, and the door suddenly opened.
He was slightly stunned when he saw Aaron walk in with a cold expression.
"Are you complaining to your mother again? Did you tell her that I punished you?"
"No."
Jarrod's back was very straight, as if this was the only way to show his stubbornness.
Aaron glanced at Alice's tablet and suddenly took out a small porcelain bottle.
When Jarrod saw the white porcelain bottle, his expression changed.
His hands were tightly clenched together, and there was a trace of fear in his eyes, but he didn't say anything.
Aaron acted as if he hadn't seen Jarrod's reaction. He touched the porcelain bottle and whispered, "Do you know what the job of the people in your mother's town was? They were bug Raisers. They had learned how to practice and raise bugs since generations before. Your mother was an expert, but why did she give birth to such a trash like you? You share the blood of the Harper family, yet you are so dumb with bugs. I wished you could do better, but you've always disappointed me. Jarrod, how can you do this to your dead mother?"
He felt that every inch of his skin was being bitten by something, and every inch of his bones were being cut apart.
He took out a bottle from his pocket, stuffed the medicine into his mouth with his trembling hands, and soon began to vomit.
He spat out large amounts of black blood. The bugs in the blood were wriggling, making his entire body feel numb.
Jarrod gasped before finally taking out his lighter and igniting his black blood. The crackling sound made his eyes look extremely gloomy.
He looked like a devil, without any emotion.
Taking a deep breath, Jarrod aimed the lighter at his wound.
The intense burning feeling caused the bug in his body to become restless.
Jarrod immediately sensed its exact location and immediately took out his military dagger. Then he stabbed towards his chest without hesitation.
At the same time, he smashed a large vat beside him. The moment the poisonous scorpion fell on the ground, Jarrod directly grabbed it with his hand and stuffed it into the wound on his chest.
The two bugs started fighting in his body.
Jarrod was in so much pain that he almost fainted, but he couldn't.
He could only clench his teeth and endure it bit by bit.
More than an hour later, the poisonous scorpion finally killed the bug that Aaron had put into his body, but the poisonous scorpion was almost dead.
Jarrod picked it out with a dagger and burned it to death. Then, he took out a bottle and poured himself a detoxification pill. Only then did he lie on the ice-cold floor.
Once again, he escaped death. Now, he was so skilled in dealing with the bug every time. But his body was full of wounds.
However, his heart was still restless.
Before, he didn't know why he wanted to live like this, but now, he had a goal.
A very clear but crazy goal.
Jarrod looked at Alice's tablet on the table and smiled evilly.
"Mom, did you see that? This is the man you chose as your lover. You told him not to let me touch the bugs. I did not take the initiative to touch the bugs, but I had to touch these things to survive since I was four years old. Would you still think your decision was right if you were here now?"
