Don't Try to Escape, My Wife! novel Chapter 1002

There was a pair of baby tiger-head shoes in the box.

What was this?

Nicole looked at Edwin in puzzlement. Edwin was obviously much more excited than Nicole.

He took the shoes with trembling hands, bursting into tears.

"She still keeps this thing. I thought she didn't care about it anymore."

Edwin placed the tiger-head shoes on his face, and tears rolled down his cheeks.

This frightened Nicole.

Edwin was a strong-minded man. Even when Audrey died, Nicole didn't see Edwin so sad.

"Grandpa, what's happened? Whose shoes are they? Are they my mother's?"

Nicole guessed, but Edwin waved his hand and directly went to his room with tiger-head shoes.

Watching Edwin's lonely and sad back, Nicole turned to look at Alison in doubt.

Alison shook her head.

Nicole was completely confused. She knew that Edwin might think of some sad memories.

If she had known it earlier, she wouldn't have been so curious.

"What should we do now?"

Nicole looked at Alison.

Alison frowned and thought for a moment. "Mr. Shaw must have remembered something. Leave him alone for a while."

"Alright then."

Nicole was a little hungry, but it was not the time to eat now.

She took out her phone to read latest news.

Steve came in with a large bouquet of roses in his arms.

"Steve, have you been chasing after a girl? Or has someone had been chasing after you? Roses are pretty."

Nicole teased Steve.

Steve put the rose directly in front of Nicole and said, "They are for you."

"Me?"

Nicole was startled.

"Who gave it to me?"

"I don't know. Someone from the military region sent it over."

Steve's answer surprised Nicole even more.

Just at this moment, Alison kicked the rose out.

"Alison, what are you doing?"

Nicole got depressed since the roses that Alison kicked away were in a mess.

"I'm afraid something inside is not good for you."

Steve was displeased when he heard Alison's reply.

"Can you not be so straightforward? You are in the Shaw's! Do you think there will be a problem with the things which I have checked?"

"It's hard to say. Anyway, I don't believe in anyone but Mrs. Green."

Alison didn't show respect for Steve.

Steve's expression turned gloomy.

"What do you mean? Do you mean that I will harm Ms. Nicole?"

Seeing that they were about to fight, Nicole hurriedly stood up and ease the tension.

"Wait, you both are doing this for my own good. I know it. But we don't need to be in a state of extreme nervousness at home, do we? There is a card over there. Alison, take a look who gave it to me. I'm a mother, but I can still receive roses. Isn't that something happy?"

Nicole felt a little tired.

Steve and Alison both had a hot temper. It was dangerous when they got together.

Alison glanced at Steve and didn't say anything. She directly walked over and fetched the card.

Nicole opened the card and it said, "Hi, my dear Mommy, are you happy to receive flowers? I'm sure you're happy, aren't you? Then smile. But I have to declare that I didn't buy these flowers. Samuel asked me to give you a bouquet of roses every day in case you forget him. It's too difficult for me to be your son. You display your affection every day in front of me. How hard my life is!"

Lucas' name was in the end.

Nicole burst into laughter.

Her son sent her flowers.

Nicole looked at the mess on the ground and felt a little sad.

"These are the flower my son gave me. Besides, they convey my husband's love for me. You must compensate me!"

Nicole was so depressed like a child that she almost cried in front of Steve and Alison.

Alison felt guilty

"How about me going out and buy you the same bunch?"

"How can it be exactly the same? This is from my husband and my son!"

Nicole squatted down and picked roses up one by one. Alison had a deep sense of guilt.

"Mrs. Green, I...."

"Be smart."

Steve scolded her directly.

Alison shut up.

Alison admitted that she was impulsive.

Nicole picked up the flowers. Turning around, she saw Alison was overwhelmed by a sense of guilty. Although Nicole was a little sad, she comforted Alison, "Alright, I was just joking with you. I'll go up and arrange flowers in a vase first."

After saying that, Nicole took the roses and went into the bedroom.

She found a nice vase and put flowers into it. She even trimmed them.

Samuel was quite capable. He was held in the police station, but he could call Lucas to send her flowers.

"I'm coming."

Nicole dressed herself up and opened the door.

Edwin had calmed down. Seeing Nicole, he smiled and said, "Hurry up and eat. Aren't you hungry?"

"Yes. But you left, so I have been starving for such a long time. Grandpa, you have to compensate me."

Nicole naughtily grabbed his arm and walked into the dining room with him.

Edwin dotingly shook his head and said, "Alright, I'll compensate you. Whatever you want, just say it."

"I don't want anything else. I just want to know the story of those tiger-head shoes."

Edwin paused for a moment and sighed, "I'll talk to you about this later. Let's eat first."

"Alright."

Nicole didn't like to push people. Moreover, she was facing Edwin, so she stopped.

The few of them went to the dining room together and sat down.

When the butler served the food, Nicole ate as much as she could.

"Nothing beats home cooking. If Zoe is here, she will definitely like them."

Nicole's eyes suddenly became wet.

Since she returned home from abroad, she spent little time with her daughter and son.

The scene that Zoe gulped down food rose before Nicole's eyes.

She now suddenly felt that the scene was so warm and cute.

"Alright, Zoe will come back in a few days. You'll see her."

"Yes,"

Nicole nodded and said, "Grandpa, I will follow Uncle Mark to the military area to see Lucas. Do you want to say anything to him?"

"Let him do a good job and study hard. Be a useful person for the country."

Edwin was indeed worthy of being a soldier. He always said so.

"Alright."

Nicole was not surprised and smiled as she agreed.

She had a pleasant meal.

Nicole enjoyed dessert after dinner and felt a little stuffed.

She wanted to take a walk in the backyard, and Alison did not follow her. After all, they were the Shaw's. It was impossible for outsiders to enter.

Edwin was old and needed a nap after lunch. He went back to his room.

Nicole stretched her arms and went to the backyard after putting on a coat.

Edwin had developed the backyard into a flower garden in the past few years. There were all kinds of flowers. People would be happy at the sight of them.

Suddenly, a sound could be heard. Something heavy seemed to have fallen. Nicole quickly became alert.
