"You're bleeding!"
Coralie's face paled slightly as she reached up to cradle Channing's face, inspecting the wound intently. "Does it hurt?"
"As long as you're safe, a scratch like this is nothing."
Channing looked down at her, giving a slight nod before letting out a perfectly timed wince of pain. "Hiss—"
A fierce wave of protective fury surged in Coralie's eyes as she gently touched his cheek.
It had almost hit his eye.
And she absolutely loved his eyes.
Coralie pulled her hand back, pivoted on her heel, and marched straight up to the scar-faced man.
"You dare start a fight on my turf and hit my man? You have a death wish!"
The moment the words left her mouth, she raised her hand and delivered a vicious slap.
Smack—
The crack echoed through the room. She hit him with such force that the man's head snapped sharply to the side.
If his lackeys hadn't caught him, he would have hit the floor.
Stumbling upright.
The scar-faced man clutched his cheek, glaring at Coralie with venomous eyes. "You dare hit me?"
"And why shouldn't I?"
Coralie wiped her hand, passing the tissue to Channing. The corners of her red lips curled into a lazy, menacing smile. "Are you some rare, protected breed of dog that I'm not allowed to touch?"
"You—"
Turning purple with rage, the scar-faced man whipped out a gun and pointed it straight at Coralie.
Channing instantly drew his weapon, aiming it squarely between the man's eyes.
Actually, no.
Every single security guard in the room had their guns drawn and leveled at him.
With one word from Coralie, the man and his crew would be turned into Swiss cheese.
"Wow."
Coralie didn't flinch. Her smile only deepened. "You brought a toy gun out to scare people?"
"Did you take a wrong turn? This is a casino, not your personal playground at The Joker's Club."
"Coralie Quill—" The scar-faced man snarled, his face twisted in fury.
"Why are you screaming so loud? Are you calling for your daddy?" Coralie's smile vanished, her eyes dropping to freezing temperatures. "If the casino next door wanted to start trouble, they should have sent someone with a brain."
